Re: SHOW YOUR NEW (TO YOU) ROBESON
I've been remiss in watching this forum and replying in a timely manner.
There have been some good and great knives posted.
JJ, your slant bolstered jack, in my opinion, is one of the best knives Robeson ever produced.
Open the master blade and just hold the knife in your hand as if you were about to use it. It, quite simply, feels like an extension of your body.
Fantastically designed heavy folder.

Wow, that's really nice! What's the length on that bad boy? That stag is simply gorgeous.
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

Good one.
There are a lot of variations within this pattern; i.e., handle materials and blade grinds, etched, not etched, Frozen Heat tempering or not indicated as such.

Re: SHOW YOUR NEW (TO YOU) ROBESON
Picked up a couple Pocketeze jacks this week
622426 Robeson/Shuredge(script)/Rochester,,,,Swell-center jack or curved jack.
The clip and pen blades both have a clear protective film. You can feel the film on the blades,,, I tried to show with pics the build up
of the protectant on the blade edges.... Was this a Factory process? and if so reason being what Salesman sample? board knife?
As you can see it kept the blades in great condition. Thanks...... Tom

I've never seen that before Tom.That is a dandy knife! All it needs is an etch.

Re: SHOW YOUR NEW (TO YOU) ROBESON
The Robeson 622246 jack is one of the most comfortable knives I have ever held. It just feels like an extension of your hand.
Robeson used a protective lacquer-like coating on their display knives.
I bought a scout/utility that had it, but it had flaked off in numerous places. The seller thought it was rust corrosion and sold it as such. I removed it with nail polish remover to reveal an absolutely mint knife.
It can be removed or left as part of the history of the knife.
I used to have one of those Indianapolis Paint And Color jacks. They also put that etch on a toenail and a jumbo sleeveboard whittler. To have all three would be a great subset to a collection, Indianapolis Paint And Color gave away some nice knives. Just think of the ones that spent their lives opening paint cans.
Nice stockman. Lots of life left it that one.

Re: SHOW YOUR NEW (TO YOU) ROBESON
The Robeson jacks shown above are just so fine. Most attractive pocket knife of all time !
I would love to find one in good condition. And a saber ground spear point i think is the most attractive of all blades. Too bad they don't show up on ebay.

Charlie:
Thanks for the info on the protective lacquer coating on the 622426,,,,now that I know it left the Robeson factory that way As long as I own it
it will stay the same.. To me it's like etch on a blade,,,, and as you said it's the knife's history. Thank you kj for liking that piece. Tom
