Show Us Your Latest Gerber Knife

In 1939 Joseph Gerber (advertising agency owner) had custom knife maker David Murphy make 24 sets of carving knife for some of his select customers. Catalog retailer Abercrombie & Fitch saw them and was so impressed with the quality of the knives they wanted to sell them. Thus was born Gerber Legendary Blades.

Would love to change it to stag or horn! Not sure if it hurts the value if there is any....regardless, I love that knife!!
I have had these in the past and I have one now and they are great Bowie knives ::tu:: ::tu:: Looks like the best trade I done seen in a long while! ::nod::

Me too, Dog, I love that shape for a dagger!
As long as it's non-serrated!

You got it M.M, If I have a water rescue knife or rope knife/sailor's knife, a serrated blade can be useful ::hmm:: outside of that I have moved away from wanting to have a Half-serrated knife anymore. ::hmm::

I KNEW I'd seen this knife before!!!
2 weeks ago I was eye-balling it on Amazon.ca and even put it on my "Save for Later" list!
When I saw your post yesterday I said to myself "why do I know this knife", but nothing else so I asked you.
Thank you very much, David, for taking the time to reply and transfer a video, it's much appreciated!
I'll post my new Gerber when I finally buy one, and that'll preserve our matching tastes streak! lol!
It's a really cool little knife, enjoy it to the max!

I bought this Portland Gerber about 30 years ago for skinning. It's full belly is great for that task. Full tang, scales feel like textured metal of some sort. Skinned many whitetails and hogs with it.

I recently picked up this Marlin change blade knife which I suspect is a Gerber product. Very reminiscent of the Gator, is 4 and 7/8" OAL closed, is only etched with the Marlin logo. The nylon belt sheath is also only marked Marlin and has a compartment to store the extra blade. Blackie Collins did a lot of knife designing, much of it for Gerber. Are my assumptions correct?
