Show off your Gerber Knives

In 1939 Joseph Gerber (advertising agency owner) had custom knife maker David Murphy make 24 sets of carving knife for some of his select customers. Catalog retailer Abercrombie & Fitch saw them and was so impressed with the quality of the knives they wanted to sell them. Thus was born Gerber Legendary Blades.

Thats a nice one. Designed by Al Mar, IIRC. Al designed a lot of knives for Gerber in that era.

Can't believe I forgot to post this one when this thread first began:A Gerber Paul Model 2PM 1st model that had the Allen screw in the frame to adjust the closing of the blade. The problem with it was it wasn't threaded but a press fit and if rotated would loosen up and fall out.The 2nd model eliminated it.I bought this one new(think it was about $60)and decided to try a little file work on the spine of the blade with somewhat less than success. Not a problem as I don't ever intend to sell it.

I like your early production "Paul". In fact, I like them so much that my EDC is a first year Micarta like yours.

Thank you sir;I like it as well. Did you have any problem with the Allen screw loosening and falling out? I wound up putting a drop of CA adhesive on it.

I've never had any problem with mine. The knife is a bit rickety, rattles, but always works. I have heard of others having that problem, and I have a parts knife that is missing the screw. The old Gerber Paul was innovative, well made, and good looking, but they acquired a reputation for being too complicated and not too reliable. I have a drawer full of better EDC knives, but I love my old Gerbers, so it is fun to have one in my pocket.

I have intended to post photos of some old Gerbers for quite a long time, but haven't gotten "round to it". I had the camera out today so decided now was the time. Sorry I'm such a poor photographer. I did "kitchen" knives today, but I'll get to folders, fighters, and hunters eventually.

This was my gerber knife. I’ve lost it to airport security 3 times but got it back only once from them. But now she is gone. And what I’m asking now if anyone knows the name or model number of said knife. This may not be the right place for this post. But any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

That's a 8460 Game Pro designed by Rick Hinderer for Gerber. S30V blade....one heckuva knife.

You're probably gonna have a fairly ruff time finding one, even used.
