There was another truncated set in with the group. A 1947 set in the same condition as these. To me both look unused and brand new except for the bit of patina. Asked the gentleman I got them from. He said he couldn't remember where or when he got them. I believe him, he looked like he could've been at the Last Supper.
Case, I'll be giving you and a few more folks that know alot about Gerber. I'd post them but wanna know they're legit.
Here's one that I had to rebuild. One end was off, the other loose. The velvet was all kinds of messed up but the cutlery was perfect (like most of the boxes in the group).
I had the black fleece so I figured why not. Sanded the walnut ends down to wood (no stripper just muscle and paper), shot a couple of coats of lacquer (8-9. can't remember. If you've ever used lacquer you know why), cleaned and buffed the aluminum, reglued the ends and....
