Stamp on Gerber Brass Bolsters

In 1939 Joseph Gerber (advertising agency owner) had custom knife maker David Murphy make 24 sets of carving knife for some of his select customers. Catalog retailer Abercrombie & Fitch saw them and was so impressed with the quality of the knives they wanted to sell them. Thus was born Gerber Legendary Blades.

I've never seen one either. I did a google "image" search for something similar but came up empty. Sure hope you get an answer.

Wonder if this was a pattern used so that it would hold glue or epoxy? Jostens used to sell a version of the Sportsman that often had a bolster-attached medallion with a company logo and a small gemstone, these were usually given away as service awards.

It's probably some company's corporate logo from back in the day.
Lots of Gerber knives were commissioned by companies to be given out as awards, (like safety awards or for meeting sales goals etc) or for thank you gifts to good customers.

I see them on ebay all the time.
