(I took the pics before I cleaned and polished it. It looks a little better now.)I taught myself a trick maybe you guys can use. I put painter's tape over the brass, between the bolsters, after removing the old scales, smoothed it down tightly and used a small file and razor blade to gently remove all but the scale outline. Peeled the tape off and put it on the new wood stock for a perfect pattern. Especially good when working with the angles of a congress pattern. Try it and good luck. J.O'.
