M.M. ::hmm:: ... I thought you were the best... you were at the top of my AAPK-VIP list... ::hmm:: Then, you had to go posting that Al Mar pickup... :x then, you had to get me thinking about Al Mar knives... ::hmm:: and thinking about how I haven't seen one for sale locally for a couple of years at my local spots... ::skeptic:: then I gave a buddy a ride to a tire shop to pick up his car and there is a pawn shop just down the road ::hmm:: so I go in ( I know better ::facepalm:: ) and... ::paranoid:: ... I end up seeing an Al mar folder that came in 2 days ago... ::paranoid:: and next thing you know ::paranoid:: ... I am spending the gas-milk-dog-food money* on that Al Mar!!! :x ... ::facepalm:: you had to set me up like that! :x ... :x You're OFF the List!!! ::td:: ::td::

Gulp, whoops, sorry bout' that, buddy. ::facepalm::
But if there ever was a knife that could make us compromise our principles it's that Al Mar, but try looking at it as you did a favor for a friend, ::hmm:: and were justly rewarded with a used/new Al Mar knife for your collection, ::groove:: or any other BS that makes you feel better about buying it! ::paranoid::
When I first saw those "Gameskeepers" online I knew I'd finally found my "grail" knife, ::ds:: but at the price that it was listed at it made me banish the thought that I'd ever own a copy. :x
Now, 3 years later I find that one on Ebay much more reasonably priced coming directly from Japan, along with the "Make an offer" option which I quickly took him up on and sent an offer for US$100. less than he had listed, and he accepted. I still paid-up for mine, but at least it was something I could live with. ::shrug::
I'm still struggling with whether to remove the swinguards or not, ::hmm:: cuz that knife would really look cool as an "icepick", ::groove:: but I really don't want to mess with it's originality so I'm not sure what I'll do, ::hmm:: suggestions? ::shrug::
If you send me your address I will send your family a "Care Package" with all the essentials in it, bread, butter, milk, coffee, coupons for gas, BEER, but in the meantime just dip into my "Beer Fund" money if you find yourselves running short on anything!
At this point I'd do just about anything to get back to the top of your AAPK list pal, friend, buddy, amigo, hombre! ::handshake::
Pictures of your new knife when you get it, please!

That's a gorgeous quality folder, bud!
Is yours the copy from Jamie's store, he had/has one for sale?
I recently saw an Al Mar "Sere" automatic I'd love to own someday, but even the manual would make for a great score, at the right price!
And I'm glad you've decided to behave yourself, otherwise it was "buckwheats" for you! ::uc::

M.M. the Al Mar was found in a pawn shop (see; "Pawn Stars" thread for more details). Well...as a side note... ::skeptic:: .... as far as the quality of your photos... ::paranoid:: .... ::paranoid:: .... ::skeptic:: ....well ... ::hmm:: how 'bout looking at Ivoryman's postings for some tips on knife photography.

No offense, ::paranoid:: but sometimes after looking  at your photos I start to think I need to go in for cataract removal surgary...

I just saw it in "Pawn Stars", and you'd posted that Al Mar in another thread somewhere, Dog, so I've seen it before, but those knives will always look good no matter how long it's been since I've seen one. I almost went for an Al Mar "Denali Top Gun" model when I bought my "Gameskeepper", but ultimately decided I liked the "G/keepper" more.
As for my photography my man, my pictures are what they are and have been since my very first picture posted nearly 3 yrs. ago, LOUSY, but I don't have a mobile phone to take and transfer pictures to my laptop so the only camera available to me is the built-in one in my laptop, and that's the best it can do, hence my disclaimer.
I'm hoping that when I break out my brand new laptop I won from Microsoft that my pictures will improve, but that's about my only hope cuz I don't have a mobile now and doubt I ever will.
I'm sorry bout' the eyes, bud, and of course there's no offence taken.

No worries Mark, just keep posting your photos and getting new knives to inspire others on AAPK  (Note* if you sold one of those big old cranes from your crane operating company you could get a really expensive hi-tech and fancy "modern-times" type phone... ::hmm:: )

Oh, it's not the money that's stopping me, it's the damn technology I don't get!
I joined a plan with a free phone as part of the deal about 4 yrs. ago, but after struggling all evening just trying to figure out how to make a simple phone call I retuned it and cancelled the plan.
I probably should have given myself more time to understand the inner workings of the devise, but I didn't and it's likely for the best, since I spend a lot of time on my laptop already and wouldn't give the phone the attention it commands.
I'm straight-up meat and potatoes, buddy!

Years ago, AGR had some really nice slip-joints out of Seki-City, ::dang:: ... man I wish I had picked up a couple back then, they looked really nice in the catalog. I think AGR might have had a skeleton one as well... Hey thanks, Gordy!
I was instantly attracted to that Boker Magnum due to the dark covers, I usually see that knife with white bone covers and I thought the difference was quite striking so I grabbed one. Quite inexpensive also!

Is this the one, Dog, or am I confusing it with the model you referred to? ::shrug::
Front tang is stamped "A.G. Russell", and rear tang "Seki-Japan".
The little black square on the spine is the top-lock, and the rectangle shaped blade hole is for 1-hand opening.
Even if we're talking about 2 different knives, this one is really nice!

Thanks Kerry!
They also made them with a hollow spine, but I thought this one looked better filled-in.
I just saw your name at the bottom of the "Mail Call" thread and it made me wonder where you've been again, and then low and behold I click-on a notification and it's from you! Small world, huh!
Which model Kershaw are you referring to, I can't think of the one that would remind you of the 2 knives off the top of my head? ::shrug::
