Buck 110 Factory repair

Post by Rossr »

I had a buck 110 show up from somewhere. It was a wreck blade was bent. Had been ground several times and blade was smaller, the handle was even loose and separating. I had posted it in kn ife repair about maybe I'd try to fix it . Someone mentioned just sending it to buck for repair. Well I finally decided to and for $10 and shipping of just over $6. Off it went. Well today it came back. And it's like new. They replaced the blade tighted it up and cleaned and buffed the whole thing. I'm astounded. It is ready for a lifetime of use again and when you figure they shipped it back they clearly didn't make a dime on this but for sure made a customer happy.

I sent one off last year, and talk about a world class service for the price! I was throughly impressed with the customer service. You got yourself a nice knife.

You cannot beat Buck’s customer service and their repair service either.

That came out nice! I’m not surprised. They’ve done about 10 for me and I’m very happy with every one of them.

If you send more than one at a time, you and Buck save on shipping.

The two in the middle were mine and my fathers users worn down over the years. The finger groove ones lock completely wore out. I bought the broken 111 for cheap money. Sent them all in at once for the same shipping fee.

I let them know the extreme sentimental value of the 2 and that I did not expect anything to be covered under warranty.

I was buying broken worn 110’s and 112’s bottom fishing the bay. Not really to save money. But because I wanted Macassar Ebony. This was before Buck partnered with Taylor guitar and started using Ebony again.

I didn’t pay more than the Walmart price for any of these.

This early one just got the spa treatment. I asked them not to round off the bolsters and not to sharpen it.

I've heard nothing but praise for Buck's repair/warranty service. It's wonderful to know that they're still producing a quality product and standing behind it 100%.

I'd be curious to know if those of you that have conducted repair business with Buck are now receiving advertisements. Anyone? ::shrug::

Customer Acquisition Cost, or CAC, measures how much an organization spends to acquire new customers and is an important business metric in calculating the total cost of sales and marketing efforts. Buck most likely uses their repair business to add to their customer database and underwrites any financial shortfall from their sales and marketing budget.

It's brilliant in that not only is Buck adding to their customer database, but based on the commentary here, they are also building some great brand loyalty.

I always wanted a finger groove 112. Found one with a blade with tip broken off for $12. Sent to Buck, spent $10, now have a like-new knife for $22. Best bargain out there.

When you are counting the cost to buy a knife that needs to be fixed, don’t forget to factor in shipping and a new sheath.

On another forum I was acused of taking advantage of Bucks generosity. The person felt Buck was doing it at a loss for their loyal customers not to rehab broken knives from Ebay.

While I did watch the prices, I did it to get ebony handled knives with new blades for my kids.

One I did for myself was an aniversary knife with a snapped blade, Macassar Ebony and nickel silver. It was like this one before it broke.

I haven’t received anything advertising wise I can think of from them.

I agree you can't beat Buck!!!! I was working on my backhoe and had a Buck 501 sitting on the top of the engine when I raised up the rpm of the motor. The knife fell into the fan blade and banged around in the cover. I stopped the engine and looked for the knife. I could not find it so I finshed the work and moved the backhoe. Later I found the knife. It had fallen out of the fan shrould and then I rode over it with the backhoe. The bolster was broken and both scales bent . I called Buck and told them the story and they said send it to them to look at it. If they could fix it they would, or if they could not I could buy a knife at a discount. About 6 weeks later I got a package from Buck with a new knife no charge. I call Buck and told them I would gladly pay for the knife since it was my fault it was broken. The repersentive said Buck takes care of the Buck family. So I say you can't beat Buck. ::tu:: ::tu::

Back in January I sent a few Buck 110`s to the Buck Factory for the Spa treatment and Blade replacement and haven't gotten them back yet. Seems like I should have gotten them by now. Anybody know if Buck is running behind on repairs? Thanks, Mike

I've never sent a Buck back for repair, but it makes you feel good knowing what they can and will do.
