AkC 13 inch problems

Post by jw517 »

I bought this AKC 13 years ago and not too long after I had it the locking mechanism that holds the blade closed won’t engage the hole/dent in the blade and keep it closed. I realize it’s not a high priced knife but it’s beautiful and I’d like to fix it somehow. Anybody know a nice guy who works on these?

I meant to say it’s a 13 inch knife.

If I was in your situation, I would try Bill Deshivs first and take it from there. If he can't help, I'm sure he could point you to someone who can.

ThanksRick! I took a peek at his website. If the knife was more important(rare) etc. he would be the guy to hire. 90.00 a hour is more than I have.

I think I will use a carbide cutting burr and deepen the hole in the blade first. It may just be too shallow. It’s something that won’t hurt anyway.I see the “new” AKC knives have a hole THROUGH the blade not just a divot like this example.
