I have a square account and used to have it connected to my store. Today I noticed accepting credit cards wasn't and option for my new listing. When I tried to add credit cards as a payment option there are other credit card companies listed as processing options, no square though.
What happened?
accepting credit cards
Re: accepting credit cards
Hi Rob,
We've recently discontinued Square as a payment option. The decision was made after evaluating the resources required to maintain it, which we believe could be more effectively allocated elsewhere. Additionally, we found that very few stores were utilizing Square, and there were instances where accounts were abruptly closed due to Square policy violations, often without prior notice.
We hope & expect to add more payment methods soon that are specifically aimed at ensuring that we can continue to facilitate legal knife sales, regardless of how strict payment processors become with their "weapons" policies.
Please stay tuned for updates.
Best,
Bryan

Re: accepting credit cards
Thanks for explaining that Bryan. When I was trying to add the credit card payment option it looked like there were a couple other companies listed. Do you currently have other credit card processors?
I rarely had credit card sales here. I use square at gun shows so it makes sense for me to keep my account with them for now. If you have other companies lined up for credit card processing I'll take a look at them.

Re: accepting credit cards
Hi Rob,
Thank you for your understanding regarding the discontinuation of Square as a payment option. To answer your question, we currently offer credit card processing through two merchant accounts: Card Connect and Authorize.net. Additionally, PayPal's newest service allows us to accept credit card payments directly through our checkout system. This functions similarly to our other merchant account integrations but offers the added flexibility of PayPal and Venmo payments, all without the merchant account fees that often deter people from using Card Connect and Authorize.net.
PayPal is the most widely used payment method here at AAPK, and we're continually exploring other options. I've attempted to integrate alternatives like Stripe, Adyen, and several others, but their policies on weapons have been a significant roadblock.
I'm also working on adding more peer-to-peer payment options like Cash App, Venmo, and Zelle. Cash App was just integrated yesterday, although I'm still fine-tuning the order flow. Ensuring that AAPK has a variety of reliable payment methods is a high priority for us, especially given the challenges we face with some payment processors' policies on weapons.
I'd love to hear any suggestions you or anyone else may have on this matter.
Best,
Bryan
