JACK KNIFE BEN CHICAGO on front tangs rooster nutter with ebony handles. Back tang stamp is UNION STOCK YARDS.

Recently, this pocket knife arrived in a group or lot of pocket knives that I bought. I did NOT purchase the group or lot of pocket knives to obtain this particular pocket knife. It is an O. C. MFG. CO. (Ohio Cutlery), two blades, two tang stamps, 3 1/8" closed, two springs, pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp might say, "O.C.MFG.CO (over) MASSILLON" (It is really faint and barely readable) The secondary blade front tang stamp also might say, "O.C.MFG.CO (over) MASSILLON" (It too is really faint and barely readable) There is NO "Tru-Temper" stamped on the back of the tang, on either blade. The main blade has a rounded tip. The secondary blade also has a rounded tip. The main blade has no real opening and or closing snap to speak of. The secondary blade has a decent opening and closing snap. Overall, this pocket knife is still in FAIR+ condition. I gave it a minor cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is. The very last picture is of the GOINS' descriptions.

Not too recently, this lobster pattern or style of pocket knife arrived in a group or lot of pocket knives that I bought. It now becomes my latest example to be posted under this topic or thread. This particular pocket knife was NOT the target of my purchase. But, it did get added to my general pocket knife collection. It is a QUICK POINT, two blades, two tang stamps, 9/16" X 2 1/4" closed (not including the bail), lobster pattern or style of pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says, "QUICK (over) POINT" The secondary blade back tang stamp also says "QUICK (over) POINT" If there ever was any advertising on the handle(s), it is not there now. The main blade has a good half stop and a good opening and closing snap. The secondary blade also has a good half stop and a good opening and closing snap. Overall, this pocket knife is still in GOOD+ condition. It did need a little cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

It now becomes my latest example to be posted under this topic or thread. This particular pocket knife was NOT the target of my purchase. But, it did join my general pocket knife collection. It is a HAYWARD, one blade, one tool (scissors), one tang stamp, 7/16" X 2 1/4" closed (not including the bail), lobster, pattern or style of pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says, "HAYWARD" The main blade has a soft half stop and a crisp opening and closing snap. The tool also has a soft half stop and a crisp opening and closing snap. Overall, this pocket knife is still in VERY GOOD condition. It needed very little cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

It now becomes my latest example to be posted under this topic or thread. This particular pocket knife was NOT the target of my purchase. However, it did get added to my general pocket knife collection. It is a S.O.B., one blade, one tool (a file), one tang stamp, one bail stamp, 2 5/8" closed (not including the bail), fob or key ring, pattern or style of pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says, "S.O.B." (S.O. Bigney?) The bail stamp says "SOB Co" The main blade has a good half stop and a good opening and closing snap. The tool also has a good half stop and a good opening and closing snap. Each handle side or scale has a simple design. The main handle side or scale has an oval shaped, blank space, for personalizing. Each handle side or scale has a couple of tiny dings. But, overall, this pocket knife is still in GOOD condition. It did need a little cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

I am posting this pocket knife for reference. I am NOT posting this pocket knife for its looks.....

Some time ago, this pocket knife arrived in a very large group or lot of pocket knives that I bought. I did NOT purchase the group or lot of pocket knives just to obtain this particular pocket knife. It is a BRANTFORD, two blades, two tang stamps, 3 5/8" closed, two springs, pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says, "BRANTFORD (over) CUTLERY CO (over) USA" The secondary blade front tang stamp also says, "BRANTFORD (over) CUTLERY CO (over) USA" If there was a blade etch, there isn't one now (see "Per GOINS' below). Now, to the problems. A bolster pin is recessed, the secondary blade spring is broken in half and two thirds of the back handle or scale is missing. The main blade has a good half stop and a good opening and closing snap. The secondary blade, well...... Both blades still have a lot of metal left. I took some pictures and here it is.

is what GOINS' (1998 Edition) says about Butler Brothers.

A unique knife, Skip. Is that handle made of horn? I can see a bit of varied color there.

Jack Knife Ben had these made to sell at the Union Stock Yards in Chicago.

These two were probably made by Napanoch in the 1900 to 1910 era. Second one has the CARMEN punch blade.

Hi I was directed to this thread for info on this lovely old mother of pearl knife, likely to be a quill knife. It has G R & Co stamped as the only marking - can anyone advise maker and age? Many thanks!
