The Roma. Yours and mine are Roma. My Stiletto is brass lined.
Re: Some of my autos!
Like I said,I’ve never seen a real Roma. They might have steel liners. Yours and mine have steel.

Re: Some of my autos!
There are no "real" Romas. They are all Chinese-even the AKC World models.

Re: Some of my autos!
Ah ha! That presents a problem. 100.00 or 20.00 shipped from China. All I know is the one I bought is built well. I don’t think it can be built better, tighter and still work.

Re: Some of my autos!
Why won't you just get your hubby to adjust the pivot screw and apply Quick Release oil to it, that might just solve the problem, Kim!

Re: Some of my autos!
Are you trying to tell me that you can't turn a screwdriver and/or squeeze an oil dispenser, come on girl, isn't it worth trying if it means you'll have the knife you want and like?
You're a Jersey girl, that stuff is 2nd nature to you!

Re: Some of my autos!
Ooooh, it's really tough, you put the nozzle in the hole and lift the lever to the lock position, you're right, I'm certain you couldn't handle THAT!
You spoiled BRAT you! lol!

Re: Some of my autos!
I think you need a set of precision screw drivers.Star head, torc head etc. If you can’t make a go of it I’ll do it for you if you mail it to me.

Smitty!
I know you like those fishtail knives, well, there's 2 manual Falcons of different sizes scrolling across the top screen right now!
Both have very nice wooden covers!

Re: Some of my autos!
Yes,they are hard to find these days. Those seem a little pricy and wood is not my favorite. How are ya buddy?
Re: Some of my autos!
What about the spring? Most China made knives has a round spring instead of a flat one.
Original AKC Roma knives from 3knives are also made in China.
It appears that AKC has a deal with a Chinese manufacturer to keep production costs low. AKC also has some knives produced in Taiwan, such as the Smarty OTFs.
There are 3 AKC brands:
AKC = Made in Italy
AKC X-TREME = Made in Taiwan
AKC World = Made in China
Made in China does not necessarily mean that the quality is bad or something like that. For example, I bought 2 cheap swingguards for $25 from China. They work perfectly.
Re: Some of my autos!
Then it needs to say CHINA NOT MADE IN ITALY.
Re: Some of my autos!
Ask Bill if he gave his permission to etch his name on them? Ya,they work great, they’re sharp, but if I sell you my knife I bought from China for 15.00 that says Italy on it for 104.00 . Not good.
Re: Some of my autos!
I think the quality from China is very good on a lot of things. The knives I bought were great but for one and it was ok with a little adjusting. I looked at a well known knife site a few days ago and the country of origin for AKC said Italy/Hong Kong. Hmmmm. They wanted 104.00 for a Roma. Less than 20.00 if I order from China. ( HongKong is not part of Europe)
Re: Some of my autos!
Knife on left was purchased about 15-18 years ago. Knife on right about 3 months ago. Knife on left is heavier with flat spring. Knife on right round rod spring.

Here are a couple of pics of my Korrizy. It is a 10" that I bought from Edge Company in the early 90s as a youth. I did not carry it much. Instead it rode around in my old car under the seat in a piece of tupper wear along my brass knuckles to be taken out as needed. Included is a pic of my old Nova.Kimzilla wrote: ↑Fri Oct 13, 2023 8:19 pm I'm glad you were able to find a knife you had as a kid. I'd like to see a picture of it.
What started our current collection was that my husband had a collection as a kid, but he put them in a box and buried them in his yard for safe keeping and forgot the location I suggested on a trip to Milford, PA that he restart his knife collection. We came home with 4 or 5 and then it snowballed from there.
Sad to hear that he lost his original collection. If they were in a good container that would protect against moisture, that would be quite a find if located! Glad though you began again.
Re: Some of my autos!
Tks Kim! It is minty minty. Most of the time, it was in the tupper wear tray and then for years and years after that, it remained in box. It only came out a few times in those days I sure do miss the car.Kimzilla wrote: ↑Thu Oct 19, 2023 8:33 pm Nice knife & nice car
The knife looks like it's in excellent condition. I hope you didn't need to take the plastic container out very often!
I don't know what kind of container he placed them in as a kid, but it would be cool to locate them. Unfortunately, his parents sold that house when they moved down the shore full time, so we will never have the chance to try to find them.
It would be fun to get a good metal detector and visit your husband's old home. On that show, American Pickers, they dug up and old Indian motorcycle frame that was buried in a yard. Kind of reminds me of that if you were to pursue it.

I have an Edge Co. 8" stiletto that I needed to install the spring when it arrived, it's still a solid knife.
For some reason your avatar is looking familiar? lol!
Even cooler SS 396, THE muscle car if you ask me!
Re: Some of my autos!
Tks Marco! No doubt the Edge Co knives were cool! Would like to see a picture of yours.
The SS396 cars are excellent. All of the makers then had something cool. If I could pick just one, I'd go with a 74 SD455 Firebird. Gotta have your check book ALL OF THE WAY OUT to get one now.
That is a familiar avatar image. I thought about going with one of my woman holding a knife pics, but that might be exceeding things

Re: Some of my autos!
Here's my Edgeco you requested, QGL.
This model has the removeable spring and dual-headed pin to hold it in, AND, a screw-in pivot as opposed to a fixed rivet, so it has both of the methods used to send it to restricted countries instead of just one or the other. It's still very tight with no defects and fires like the proverbial cannon, even the safety works perfectly. And of course it has a nail-nic to use for when the spring breaks before you can replace it. The knife has a bit of a unique feature too, the front tang is stamped "EDGECO/Stainless", but the back tang is stamped "TALY/Stainless", the "I" in "Italy" is missing, and it actually looks like it was never there, not just faded or rubbed off from wear.
My favorite muscle car is the really sleek looking 1970 Plymouth Barracuda, followed closely by the 1970 Dodge Challenger. I've tried to get myself to like the convertible models, but somehow they seem wimpy to me without their rooves/roofs (?). I'm sure my liking of these 70 models is due to the fact I was 17 in 1970 and had recently got my licence, resulting in me dreaming about owning one!
Your favored 74' SD455 Firebird is likely so costly cuz it's a MONSTER!
My comment about your avatar was because you'd just put it up and were showing the same knife to us in your post, that's why it was familiar.
You DEFINITELY should have your gal holding the knife in your avatar, one can never see too many beautiful women, and I for one wouldn't consider that to be exceeding things!
