Repro Bullet Knife list

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

Repro Bullet Knife list

Post by tvic »

Someone posted a couple of pages from a book here in the past that listed all the Bullet knives from 1982 to 2007 - and it showed how many were produced each year, as well as other information. Very helpful. Is there a list somewhere that gives the rest of each year's production numbers - 2008 to present?

Hopefully someone can help. In early 1980s when those authorized Remington Bullet reproductions first appeared, they were made by Camillus. Until Camillus ceased to operate (~2007) they were the makers. Then comes a period of uncertainty.

Remington has had a rocky road, with corporate divestiture, breakups, etc. I’m not sure what has happened to the ownership of the rights to make Remington knives. There have been some sporadic releases, like those recently done by GEC and Bear. Someone may know, but I’m not sure there has been an annual series of Bullet knife reproductions since the demise of Camillus.

The annual Camillus-made reproductions were uniformly of good quality. Since then…………. ::shrug::

So I’ll be interested to see if anyone can answer your request.

Thanks for all your help, guys! I can kinda figure out from Ebay many of the patterns and the year. Still would be nice to know how many were produced in a given year, though.

Price and Zalesky list these repros, but here again, the newer ones are missing. Check out this link-

You would need to find a more recently released reference book. ::nod::

*edit- here's vit_213's list through 2022 (attached).

Thanks John, that is good info. It looks like the last one Camillus made was 2005, and recently there have been multiple “Bullet” releases each year, with various features. Kind of dilutes the concept IMHO, but others may like it. ::shrug::

The "Bullet" concept died after Camillus left (IMHO) ::teary_eyes:: .

On the list above it shows two Bullets in 2022 - what's the deal with that?

Everything is correct. Bullet knife by Bear & Son and Silver Bullet knife by GEC.

So, 2022 had two "annual bullet knives" and the other years just had one?

No, it’s just that in 2022, for the first time, Bullet and Silver Bullet knives were made by different manufacturers. Therefore they are separated in the table.
Original table here https://vit213.narod.ru/remington/bullet.html (sorry, but this site is in Russian).

This link you sent me, it opens in that real nice list, but if you hit the back button it takes you to the pictures, which is very nice. However, the first pictured knife there says "1972" and then goes to 1983 and I think I am reading that the reproduction program started in 1982. Is this a misprint or am I missing something?

The official countdown of Bullet reproductions goes back to 1982, but I don’t have this knife (this site contains photos only of knives from my collection.). The 1972 image has a link to my review of this knife. This is in Russian, but you can use Google translation (I hope it will be more or less correct).
