This probably isn't a high value counterfeit target, and I have no reason to question the integrity of the seller. They are in fact highly reputable. I found this in their junk bin at the badger knife show. I question if they even knew it was in there until i purchased it. So if it's not legitimate it would have been, in my estimation, purchased and sold unknowingly. Also im not a case guy, but if you see one in a rust pile....
I think the stamp is fine, never held another one, but the handle and pins seem good. It's this shield that seems odd to me.
Does anybody have any info?

Case shield questions

That's my Etsy store where I sell old knives and sometimes handmade knife accessories to support my knife habbit. Thanks for looking my friend.

Re: Case shield questions
It’s legit. Just like handle colors, materials, and other things Case has made a bunch of different shield designs (and colors) over the last 30 years or so. They’re catering to collectors, to entice them to buy another knife for their collection, because there’s something different about it. Apparently it works.
I don’t try to keep up with all of it, but knifedb.com tries to.

It's a fairly common pattern from 2008 with enough pocket scratchs and blade scratches to take it out of collector condition so the seller might have intended to sell it wth his users. For you that means 100% of the utility of a like new one but with the freedom to toss it in with your pocket change. It's a good size for that.
