Reining Horse Knife?

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Reining Horse Knife?

Post by cody6268 »

I was ordering a few random Schrade parts from a retailer (largely to fix a busted Tough Chip--which had more than a few issues), and came upon these shields.

Posted this before I found the actual knife, so I edited it.

Found they went to this trapper, issued in 1996.

Definitely one I plan to add. Made the same year as me, and I've been into horses off-and-on (though as of late, just Breyers--which are pricey, but still much cheaper...).

That's a cool knife .
Schrade, they were an extraordinary company. They even made a shadow stag farmers jack I am told. :D
Their standard run pruning blades on their farmers jacks are not my favorite , but there's a lot worse. I was told the straighter spline made it easier to grind.
I buy roosters combs and farmers..........................................................jack knives [/b]
