Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes.
I certainly hope to eventually make it to my 77th birthday.
Today was ONLY my 70th birthday. I celebrated by having my 13th colonoscopy in 21 years.

That was a profitable mistake for you, ZZ, you just gained 7 yrs., not many folks can say that!
And like Floyd said, a colonoscopy, WOW what a way to celebrate! I must be missing something, I haven't had that procedure done, not even once in my 71 yrs., I'll have to try one!
Happy # 70, you lucky devil you!

Well, that almost kinda maybe makes up for the Navy taking away my birthday one year.
Not to rain on my own birthday thread, but you really should see about getting a colonoscopy.
I'm lucky to be here for my 70th .
Long story (the only kind I have) short, I had a colonoscopy and they found a massive tumor, which lead to surgery and chemo, which I barely survived due to me needing to be different from most folks. Different story for that near death/survival experience.
Long story
A month after my 49th, I went in to the doc complaining that I was breathing worse than my 94 y.o. grandmother after helping her to the top of a set of stairs.
They estimate that the tumor was a rare slow growing type that had been growing for over 9 years. Had it been the fast growth type, I would have been dead 4 to 6 years earlier.
A couple of years later, my 47 y.o. sister was found to have a fast growing tumor, but because she finally relented to my badgering, she didn't wait to age 50 to have hers, it was caught very small as a stage 1. Because of that, my nephew and niece both had a colonoscopy at ages 25 and 21. My niece had a polyp already. Both are on the five-year plan, i.e., a colonoscopy every 5 years.
I strongly recommend everyone over the age of 40 start getting colonoscopies at beginning at age 40. If nothing is found on the initial one, you have peace of mind AND you only go back every 5 years. Catching colon cancer early is the key to easy survival. Colon cancer is the easiest cancer to catch and the easiest to correct.

Although it is true I've never had a colonoscopy, I have my internals monitored 4X/year including all blood tests by my Dr. due to other problems I've encountered. I will occasionally allow the Dr. and his 2 fingers to have his way with me, and that's before dinner and drinks, and so far all is normal. I certainly don't recommend my way, we all should be tested, but this is how I've always dealt with unpleasant things. My family was cancer free so that fear has not been recognized, thank goodness, and another reason I've been lax about medical things. When my Dr. says something isn't right I offer no resistance and look after it immediately, but until he does I'm one who carries-on til something hurts.
Foolish perhaps, but that's me and I'm 71! Thanks for your concern just the same, and your advise to others is sterling!
