Wood handles.....kind of a let down.
Don't get me wrong, I like wood handles, but for the 20th anniversary I expected something better.

Knifeart shows the 93 out of stock but a price of $80 and micarta scales, which I like.

<<ATTENTION WAITING LIST MEMBERS>>An email was sent to all 7 on our waiting list on Thursday 10/24/24 at 10:08am requesting a reply to establish 2-way communication. As of this posting not a single reply has been received but the email definitely went out successfully because I received it in my personal inbox. When the time comes to distribute any unallocated 2024 club knives, your attention to email will likely determine whether or not you receive a knife. Please, if you are on this list, reply to my email now so I know that 2-way communication is established. Thanks!
FYI - I can only PM with 5 of the 7 because 2 do not have forum ID's.

Re: 2024 AAPK Club Knife Information
I know a majority of us were hoping for bone or stag covers but it will be nice to see some kingwood in production rather than same old cocobolo…
Re: 2024 AAPK Club Knife Information
thank you for your feedback - bone, stag and horn would have added 20%+ to the total price of each knife and with some struggling to stay in the hobby during these economic times we felt it’s was in the best interest of the order to pick a more reasonable handle material. I’m sorry our decision disappoints some members, we did our very best and I’m confident that the Kingwood handles will be outstanding.fishin1635 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2024 8:50 pm I know a majority of us were hoping for bone or stag covers but it will be nice to see some kingwood in production rather than same old cocobolo…

SSK assures me Kingwood will look great on the 93 so I'm looking forward to seeing it!

Re: 2024 AAPK Club Knife Information
Tom I bet it will look good in Kingwood or even Queenwood and maybe in Knightwood. Just glad it's not in Jesterwood. And we have many good knife mechanics who can put about anything on one.bestgear wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 1:41 amWell there you go, Mark has spoken!RedRaiderRick wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2024 11:43 pm SSK assures me Kingwood will look great on the 93 so I'm looking forward to seeing it!
Re: 2024 AAPK Club Knife Information
LOL - Kingwood is a classic furniture wood, almost exclusively used for inlays on very fine furniture. It was the most expensive wood in general use for furniture making in the seventeenth century, at which time it was known as princes wood. It also has a tendency to blunt tools due to its abrasive properties which I’m sure is the exact opposite of Jesterwood which is soft and cuddly

That Jesterwood sounds like a wise acre.

Thank you Scott - we did our best to please - hopefully once they arrive and are in our hands that any doubts about Kingwood handles will vanish.

Re: 2024 AAPK Club Knife Information
A whited out picture or computerized drawing does not offer a true vivid sense of a knife's characteristics. On the other hand, in a natural setting or a background, all attributes can be appreciated more, no matter the materials. Then, when a knife is in hand, the look, quality, and feel come together, which is the best part of knife collecting.
Great job Tom, Bryan, and all responsible for developing the 2024 Club Knife!
Looking forward to getting it, and seeing all the imaginative pics everyone will be posting!

Re: 2024 AAPK Club Knife Information
After researching king wood I’m pretty psyched about this year’s knife.

Re: 2024 AAPK Club Knife Information
I googled kingwood. Looks like colors can vary from light to violet, but apparently it's super hard, decay-resistant. So now I feel like a kid on a long trip asking dad, "are we there yet, are we there yet?"

These are examples of kingwood handles from our own AAPK stores: https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/ca ... mit=Search
I'm not ashamed to say that I couldn't wait to see kingwood first hand so I pulled the trigger on this little gem: I am certainly not disappointed.

Nice color despite the small size. The little rattler is tempting as an edc for me.bestgear wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 3:27 pm These are examples of kingwood handles from our own AAPK stores: https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/ca ... mit=Search
