Camillus older type can opener

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Camillus older type can opener

I have this Camillus knife with an older type can opener.
I can't figure out how to use it.
Anyone know how they work?

Thanks Carrmillus.

Does the cutting edge of the prong cut up or down through the can lid?

For right handed people -- You rock the handle of the knife up and away from you and go counter-clockwise around the can lid.

Edit: The blade cuts on the up stroke when you pull the handle back towards you.

Down & counter clockwise. Back towards you and down through the lid in a pivoting cut around the inside edge of the rim.
