Re: One of a kinds and Mongrels
This unmarked knife was found in the rafters of an old train station in Canon City, Colorado. The depot was being moved @1960 and it fell from the refters. Bums used to overnight in the unoccupied building. Any clues to who and when?

Re: One of a kinds and Mongrels
Once again going to pass this one under the noses of members to see if anyone recognizes the makers and vintage. Brass threaded bolsters and shield makes me think India. No markings of any kind.
Re: One of a kinds and Mongrels
Here's an oldie.
All the way from France, I assume.
3 7/8" closed. Springs from hell.
Not much information on this one.
Only marking is on that sheep foot main.

Mouflom is an ancestral breed of wild sheep native to Cypress and the Caspian region of the near east, Iran, etc, from which many domestic varieties of sheep were derived.(Wikipedia). That is a cool knife.. J.O'.

Here's what I assume to be an Imperial "Magic Knife". I know it's not a one of a kind, but it is a bit of a mongrel. I have never seen another like this in the wild, but I'm sure there are more.

I've been around sheep. I like knives much better than sheep.

Re: One of a kinds and Mongrels
Temuco is a city in Chile, so de Temuco means "In Temuco". RDO. Is short for Reverend, but they also use it for radio. So, Radio in Temuco, or Reverend in Temuco.. Your choice, I guess.. Cool piece though, J.O'.Ridgegrass wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 4:50 pm Souvenir from Chile. One piece of solid bone. Anyone understand the inscription? RDO. De TEMUCO. J.O'.

Re: One of a kinds and Mongrels
I'm posting this here because I can't figure out another place to put it. It's a PUMA fish knife that serves as a fish-knocker, scaler, cleaner, and scale.
It's the second one I've owned in 45+ years. To weigh a fish the knife is suspended from a ring in the tang and the fish is tied to a notch in the scaler/spine of the blade until the knife hangs level. The weight is then read from the etchings on the blade, from 10 oz. to 12 lbs.! It's an unwieldy operation, not a tribute to German engineering. It's heavy, hard to store, display, and carry, and 10 inches long, open. Both of the ones I've had were like new, probably for the reasons above. I've never seen a sheath if there is one. But, it is a conversation piece and probably worth some good money to a PUMA collector. J.O'.
