Good morning. Things got a little slippery yesterday after the rain/snow mix. The highways are fine, but the county roads and driveways are nasty to drive on or walk on. I spread grit on the front walkway and where we get out of our vehicles and the path down to the barn. Megan stepped out of a truck at work yesterday and sat right down on the ground. We decided to not use ladders against the garage to finish the siding and went home and got three sets of scaffold and spread grit around them so we could keep working. The cold temps are supposed to come in tonight and tomorrow with sub zero over night and single digits during the day. Spring is only a few months away and we have inside work until then so it's all good. Church tonight with supper included. Have a great Wednesday.____Dave

Mornin' Y'all

Not much to talk about here. Colder and windy for the day.
Wife is taking the eldest niece to see Trans Siberian Orchestra tonight, so I'm on my own for the day.

Good Mornin', Folks.
Dave, can't imagine working in the conditions you have described! Glad you have inside work to do during the winter.
We finally got a little rain late yesterday afternoon and during the night. The wind is strong this morning, temperature dropped from 70 at bedtime to 54 as the rain now moves east. Supposed to drop during the day. ::td::
Cut and vacuumed the deer from a week ago. Got to go to town today for a few errands. Wednesday night bible study tonight.
Coffee is about ready! ::tu::
Y'all have a safe day.

Good morning Folks .
Big H, hope you are feeling better and able to maneuver around. Zach . you hang in there it’ll get better soon.
Sitting here trying to get motivated to head to the yard. Don’t know what’s harder to deal with outside in our paradise up here ,the cold wind or 40 Lbs of Carharts and PPE. Yesterday was so bundled up couldn’t hardly get my legs into the Excavator. Today is my Friday so good in that regard.
DJ Dave, inside weather up here in the trades is hard to come by. Good to read you have inside work . You be safe up there .
You all enjoy what you can out there. Stay warm.

Got some snow last night. It looked impressive this morning but it has 90% melted now at 10:30. Slightly above freezing but the sky is clearing and it is becoming sunny.

I was hoping to avoid getting a lot of House Sparrows this winter but it was not to be. A big flock settled in the other day and of course they are going thru bird seed by the pound.

Going to join a neighbor tomorrow morning for coffee at the local Hardees. Sometime the coffee there is very good, other times it is weak. I don't understand why there is no consistency. The large turnover of personnel doesn't help.

peace & health

Good morning. It's 14 below and we aren't quite adjusted to the cold yet, so our bodies feel like somethings wrong, but life goes on as usual except you don't want to get caught outside without enough clothes on, and even put on a coat to get the mail from the mail box. I'll have to bring down more water for the chickens because the water left over from yesterday in their rubber water pan is froze solid and I have to bust it out and give them water several times during the day because the new stuff will freeze in an hour or two even with heat lamps on. I'm off to work. We finally got our Toyota back and the truck heater fan is working so all is fine in the vehicle dept. Have a good Thursday.____Dave

Good Mornin', Folks.
Today is workday at Starvation Plantation, we're having fried venison, field peas and rice for dinner.
Weather wise we are experiencing 31 degrees just like Chris.
Dave glad you got your vehicle back from the shop. We're still navigating in the old Ford woods truck. Maybe the part for our daughter's car will get here soon and Miss Joy can have her Flex again. The old 4X4 is hard for her to climb up in and it doesn't have heated seats like her car.
Supposed to show a younger man how to cut up a deer this evening. He went deer hunting last week for the 1st time and bagged a doe. He says he is a fast learner and hopes to do the next one by himself. Thinking back over the years, we've shown quite a few young fellers and a few gals how we get Bambi to fit on a dinner plate or in a cooking pot.
Got the coffee going, Miss Joy is still sleeping, it's barely light out side, appears to be a big frost again.
Y'all have a great Thursday!

Good morning knifers.
Think today will be limited to indoor activities. The wind is giving us a feels like temp of 15 to 20 below zero. The actual temp is 6 below. You don’t want to be outside with any bare skin today. So will find a good book or something to do right here in the warm house.
You all stay warm and take care out there!
Big H, you feeling better?

Morning folks, 25 could hit the upper 40's sez Nikki Dee and Leland. Wouldn't be bad iff'in the dang wind would lay.
Critters are fed, wampus came out of hiding and went right to work on his grub.
Rip I'm pretty much back to normal, the Epley maneuver helps me right away, had to do it twice this time. I even went to the chicken place yestiddy and got the boss and me some chicken.
Don't know what if anything I'll get into today. Not much I expect. Still reading on this J.L. Burke book the glass rainbow, probably finish it today.
Hope yawl have a good'un and be careful out there and try to stay warm. ::handshake::

Joined the below 0, -3 earlier but not much wind so shouldn’t feel too bad.
I got to play HVAC tech yesterday. Shut the thermostat off while I changed the furnace filter. Forgot to turn it back on till I noticed getting chilly. Flipped the switch to heat. Nothing, no light. Ok, I know the thing has batteries. How to access I don’t remember. Googled it, pull from the wall Did that, oops, can see the batteries but no way to access them plus electrical stuff that I knew not to mess with. More Googling, no help. Called the local business that installed it, no tech available. S***. Jammed it back on the wall hoping I didn’t damage any of the connections. Poked and pulled around on it, and little flip down place to the batteries opened up. Success!!! All is working perfectly. Do I pay myself $100 for service call?
Have a great day and keep warm.

This wasn’t my first rodeo with furnaces. Many years ago lived in an older mobile home with a fuel oil furnace. Woke up in the middle of the night to furnace making horrible noise. Shut it off, pulled the cover off, discover the screws holding the squirrel cage blower were loose, tightened them, turned back on, worse noise and vibrating the entire unit, turned off, pulled blower….Dead Mouse!! Disposed of him, put all back together and all worked fine.

Good morning. Temps went up about 10 degrees from yesterday's low to 5 below and a heat wave is coming. It's supposed to be a balmy 30 plus degrees by Sunday. The floor project is coming along and is almost half way completed. The lady has a tiny little Italian Greyhound that is a real sweetheart and keeps inspecting our work and loves to climb into our laps when we are on the floor working. Where ever we work where they have a dog, the dog goes through a week or two of withdrawal when we leave. Nothing exciting planned for the weekend. Sure wish there was a gun show somewhere. I miss my club meetings where I always bought my Christmas present with my wife's blessing so she didn't have to feel like getting me something. All I got me this year was some bits for my impact driver. I didn't get her any. She is planning to go to the Mall of America before Christmas so I'm guessing she'll remedy that. I have zero desire to go there, even without the Christmas rush crowd, much less in the next few weeks, and certainly not unarmed which they don't allow. With that bit of nonsense, I'm off to work. Have a wonderful Friday.____Dave

Good Mornin',Folks.
Slept in a bit this morning, 33 was the low, the old Ford is covered with frost again.
Had a good workday yesterday and then about 6:30 we had a deer meat cutting class for a new hunter and one of his 4 boys. They stayed until 9pm. We cut two hams, made one into fry meat and one into roasts, boned out 2 shoulders for ground meat and made one back-strap into 1 1/2" chops. He had the deer he had killed and most of another one that someone had given him. So he has several pieces and part to do on his own tomorrow.
Today, I need to fill the deer feeder and change out a game camera that has given up the ghost and then we are supposed to attend another Christmas party this evening. Also need to check on our daughter's car, hoping the part would soon be delivered and installed.
Coffee is about to be served, y'all enjoy this Friday the 13th!

Dave, hope you get feeling better soon! We had a bad spell around here this last fall. Heidi and I had a few tough weeks. She’s good to go now but my chest and breathing is giving some grief and pain yet.

Enjoy what you can out there today. And Friday the 13 th is just another day right? No superstition here .

Good AM all. Got down in single digits here over-night but it's up to 11 deg. now. As has been said, there's supposed to be a warm-up on the way. Still gotta wrap Christmas gifts & go back to the print shop to have them do over the address labels I bought this week. They screwed up on the address and I didn't notice until I got them home. :x There are a couple of other things that need doing but I can't remember what they are right now. Sure sucks to get old!!

Thank you JP, I slept hard last night and got some good rest. Cheryl is feeling well enough that she is going into town
to buy some things we've run out of. I'm going to try and get back to doing some work out in the garage today.
Hope everyone has a blessed weekend and stay safe... :D
