Townley Metal Hardware English Jack

Post by Clark23 »

Pleased to have another Townley this is my second of a fairly rare hard to find hardware knife, knowing they didn’t make their own and hard to tell who made for I’ve been told this looks a lot like a Challenge. Thoughts?

Great looking knife . Looks like from a couple catalog pages these companies at one time supplied knifes to Townleys.

Thank you for sharing this, so this would make it out to be that these companies possibly made knives for Townley?

Possibly. It means for sure Townley sold knives made by those companies (Camillus and Ulster). It may or may not mean those companies contracted to make knives having the Townley tang stamp. ::shrug::

It is really hard to determine with any certainty who made the knifes for Townley.Although the catalog page from “1950 “ the ulster knifes company does show a dog leg with a similar long blade pull and swedge that looks a lot to me the same as the pearl handle knife I sent you ? The cattleman and jack would be dated I would think some time after 1909 when they added the metal and hardware to their company name . The pearl maybe older or on the smaller knife they didn’t have the room for the addition of metal and hardware and Kansas City mo On the tang for stamping .
