1991 CASE KNIFE HELP WITH IDENTIFICATION

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

1991 CASE KNIFE HELP WITH IDENTIFICATION

Post by moz19 »

I recently bought a collection of knives. This Case Desert Storm knife was in the box. I haven't really had any luck finding the exact knife with the wooden display. The other thing I can't seem to find is the extra engraving on the knife and it is number 001. Any information would be great. I might have to send photos to Case. Thank you in advance for any help you are able to give.

Someone here may know, but if so I’ll be surprised. Case makes thousands of those “collectable commemoratives”. That knife may or may not have been supplied in combination with that box. ::shrug:: You should contact Case and ask. Given it is over 30 years old they may not have any records for it. JMO

BTW I read your post several times, but I’m not sure what info you’re seeking. More specific questions would help if you do contact Case.

I guess I was trying to figure out if this is a case knife they did a special edition? Or if the engraving and the number 001 was done by someone else?
Is this all case?
Or is it a case knife that someone else customized.

Found a little more info. knifedb.com has 4 pages (10 knives per page) of various different Desert Storm 54 pattern trappers. None are exactly like yours but that doesn’t mean they didn’t make one. Here’s a picture from the site showing a trapper having the same blade etch as yours, two shields, and bolster serialization. There were multiple different blade etches and secondary shields. A few, but not all of the knives shown came with a clamshell box. Like I said, they’ve made thousands of various commemoratives, each appeals to a different customer base.
