Question about fixed blade Robeson

The first Robeson knives were imported by Millard Robeson from England and Germany exclusively. This continued from 1979 until 1896 when Robeson began manufacturing knives in the United States. Since inception, the company has gone through several reorganizations & eventually ended up as a Queen Cutlery brand.

Question about fixed blade Robeson

Post by Bick »

I recently acquired a nice Robeson 5" hunting knife with sheath. No numbers, just ROBESON on tang. Can someone help me ID model # and year of mfg?
Thanks

Well, I found a few matching your distinctive profile, it appears to be a Robeson model #8 hunting/fighting knife. I assume on the other side of your tang you might see impressions of an 8 stamped ? Haven't found anything on a date yet (looks to be wwII era however), and value is on the lower end.

Saw this pic on maybe an original etch (although that looks more modern to me...), and your sheath looks original or at least original style too.
Its always more fun to get info from 1st hand experience or owners, but maybe this helps in the meantime. ::tu::

Thanks for the help.
I see no #8, but your shape looks the same. My Robeson is in a different location. I believe mine was about 1958 per verbal with past owner.
Thanks again.

I forgot to ask. Do you have a date on your pictured knife? Stamp looks newer like acid etching. Mine is a stamped name.
Thanks again.

Nice, but I cannot offer any help re’ dates.

I never collected Robeson straight knives, except those made for the military during WWII.

The etch on the second blade shown is circa 1950’s or 60’s.
