Is this single or double edged? Only one picture to view.

I think the left side is sharpened and the right side is a hammer with a nail puller hook at the bottom of the hammer face.

Re: Keen-Kutter Hatchet
sharpcutsbest is not using the word side to mean the edge and hammer ends. Many moons ago hewing hatchets were made for cutting the square notches in log cabin logs, for making flat surfaces on the tops and bottoms of those logs and for making flat lumber the hard way. one side could be laid flat against the wood. Starting at the edge the other side angled up away from the flat side. Like a chisel their edge bevel was only ground on one side. sharpcutsbest is asking if it is a hewing hatchet.1967redrider wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 11:12 pm I think the left side is sharpened and the right side is a hammer with a nail puller hook at the bottom of the hammer face.

Re: Keen-Kutter Hatchet
Thanks for the additional pictures, just showing the unmarked (pile?) side would've probably revealed the beveled edge.
Thanks, Modern Slip Joints, for clarifying my query.
Yes, I keep my eye out for hewing hatchets.

Re: Keen-Kutter Hatchet
I'd trade it for a nice quality, old, Brit, US, or German hawk-bill. PM's invited. Thanks, J.O'.
