Re: First Cup Diner!
Good morning. Scott, pray you get better quickly. It's still cold here. WE had 22 below yesterday but a some of our neighbors thermometers read 32 below. Our bog lake behind us usually keeps us a few degrees warmer than it is just down the road. I put an extra heater in the barn last night but I have to watch it closely because of the possibility of over heating the electrical. I need bury a 10/2 wire down to the chicken barn. I'm heading back to the bathroom remodel. WE needed flooring for the bathroom and found some for $4.50/sq.ft. that the homeowner liked and were going to go with until we saw a pallet of laminate flooring stored up in a shed while loading material at our local lumber yard. We asked the store manager about it and he said he wanted it gone. He quoted $1.50 per sq.ft. I bought the pallet (56 boxes). Our customer wants three boxes. The rest is for the addition we are planning on our house next Spring and is now in our storage container. WE saved about $2800 on flooring. I might not have to sell knives to make the addition happen. I gotta run. Have a great Thursday._____Dave

Re: First Cup Diner!
Good Mornin', Folks.
66° this morning at Starvation Plantation with real rain! Don't know when it started but it's welcome. Maybe we'll see some sunshine this afternoon. Temperatures are fixing to get back in the 30s in a few days. Not sure how our workday will go?
Our widower friend who has a standing Thursday dinner invitation, is supposed to bring ingredients for some homemade chicken pot pies for our noon meal. His plan is to bake them in our kitchen. House cleaning can go one as well as work inside the shop. Just wait and see how long this heavy rain lasts. Radar projects it to be moved to the east in an hour or so.
Scott, sorry to read you're not feeling well.
Keep us posted.
Yesterday's deer processing went okay. In my observations, it's a lot easier to process my own deer, that is, one I skinned and prepared for the cooler prior to cutting for table fare. Seems like there's too much junk, leaves and hair on quarters that some people do.
A clean carcass makes a world of difference in the finished product.
Looking for several "shallow end of the bay" purchases to be in the mail. It's just amazing how high prices are for used knives! I guess all prices of everything just bother me. We had to make a run to Wally World after church last evening where we saw eggs for $6-$10 and milk for almost $6 for a gallon! Dave, that flooring material is the way to operate saving money. Being in the right place at the right time sure helps. Recognizing such deals as blessings just strengthen our faith.
The rain has quit, 0.6" in the gauge according to Miss Joy as she went to feed the birds and squirrels.
Coffee has been poured!
Y'all have a blessed day.

I read back over my post and I can see that it was not clear. It was your cat I was concerned about although I feel like I have sort of adopted him and I feel a sense of relief that he was spotted on the premises today.
Thanks for the update and thanks for keeping us posted on his status.![]()

It probably should have dawned on me what you were saying sometimes I'm kinda dense. I realize you fellers have adopted him. I enjoy the ole rascal and I worry about him, He's really funny sometimes he'll let me in a foot or so of him but if I reach out he's gone. He wants nothing do with my wife she'll talk to him and he looks at her like she's from out of space and boom he takes off .

Good Morning. Glad to hear Wampus is still with us. 18 degrees maybe going to 38 later. Rain likely tomorrow.
Bank visit this morning followed by picking up my car.
Evidently we are having a severe influenza season with many hospitals overwhelmed. The southern states from east to west are getting particularly hard hit.

Good Mornin', Garry. Where is the crew this morning?
Has anyone had contact with David (dlr110)? He and his bride were feeling poorly a few days ago.
We ended up with 0.7" of water in the gauge yesterday, 45 this morning, the rain didn't hamper workday on my side. Miss Joy's helper wasn't able to sweep the front and back porches like usual because of the rain. Our meal that our friend prepared for us was delightful, he baked 2 beef pot pies and they were delicious beyond description!
Hope you fellers remembered that to day is Valentines's Day.
We have 10 days of regular rifle season left here in the Panhandle then a 7 day primitive weapon week ending on March 2nd. I've been to the stand 4 times since I killed my last deer on Jan.27th. Only been taking my binoculars and camera, leaving the rifle at home, enjoy watching them and not having to contemplate dressing one.
I'll probably go for real a time or two but he'll have to be a big one. I'm not a "horn hunter" but the freezer is almost full this time. Last year's last day of the M/L season I got a buck.
Coffee is made, Miss Joy and the mini-dachshund are doing her outside things with the birds and squirrels.
Y'all enjoy the day!

Good morning knifers.
Garry, we’re experiencing some of the same thing up here. Many having trouble breathing and others coughing and hacking . ER at the few hospitals we have left here are overwhelmed. Had to take Pops to ER the other day and decided to wear a mask . Many people not covering up when coughing and a lot of snotty nosed kids running around. Not a place for me so sat in the car and waited.
We are expecting some snow later so better get my errands done before it gets slippery out.
Big H, good to read Wampus has returned. He’s kind of become our Mascot here .
You all take care out there and enjoy what you can!

Re: First Cup Diner!
Good morning. I'm off on a material run to the city and Jason is heading over to the job site to plumb in the new shower. They may have a functional bathroom by this afternoon but there will still be taping and painting to be done. They have two other bathrooms n the house. The temp is finally above zero but they are telling us another cool down is coming Sunday night with 20 below again. This Winter is more than making up for the mild one we had last year. At least it has been too cold to snow much and we do have enough ground cover to protect the septic systems. My chickens sure don't like this. There is a small gun show this afternoon and tomorrow that I plan to check out with only a little expectation of finding anything I might want. I still haven't decided if I want to drive to Janesville for the March knife show. I'd love to go but I don't know if my legs and back will give me too much grief traveling that far and all the walking involved might mess me up. It doesn't appear that Jane wants to make the trip with me and I won't go alone, so I guess I'll just have to wait and see if anything happens to change the circumstances. Have a good Friday.____Dave

Morning folks, kinda nippy 21 this morning feels like 15 sez the the guessers supposed to get to the mid 40's this afternoon. Critters are fed and ole wampus wuz back in all of his magnificent glory. He seemed rather hongery so I provided a extra rasher of grub.
The flu is really bad in our neck of the woods also, grandson had a rough spell of it and so did his maternal grandparents. Several friends have been down with it.
Buddies day at Hooters, then on to bj's for gas for my pickup truck.
Hope yawl have a good'un and be careful out there.

30 degrees warmer this morning than yesterday but then back to the deep freeze. Chance of a little snow later today. Need it, barely have ground covered.
Normally have Friday off but will be working. Business partner and hubby are taking a Valentine getaway for the weekend.
Got all the numbers crunched and ready for the tax man appointment, a week ahead!
Got couple of errands before work so gotta get moving.

Good morning everyone.
I check in more than piping in. Has anyone heard From our Marine Friend Jerry 6818. I noticed yesterday or a couple of days ago have not heard from him in a couple weeks.
Today is our 28yr anniversary. Wife normally gets me flowers. I was my mother’s best Valentine’s Day gift ever hands down. So what do I do last night stop at Walmart and loose the key to the truck inside. Very close to the house. Never the less miss Lori had to bring the spare key. Went back this morning, nothing turned in yet. I am glad wampus is back. Still in debate as to whether I’m going to take Friday or go Saturday to the Badger show. That is the show my dad had the car packed for when his woman found him stiff in the basement. Don’t mean to sound cruel/crude. It was so long ago 17 years.
Praying Gods goodness for all that are ill
Have a blessed Friday and weekend.

I remember the day he didn't show up for the show. The guy that always sat next to him(if I remember correctly, his name was Don) was waiting for your Dad and couldn't figure out why he was so late. I heard from another dealer that your Dad was all packed up and passed away. I ran back to make sure that Don, if I have do his name correct, had found out about your Dad, and he had by then. It had a real and somber affect on the show. I didn't know your Dad except from dealing with him and his table partner, but I sure remember the day it all happened.____Dave

Morning folks, 43 at daybreak could hit the low 60 sez Henry the weekend guesser. A cold rain falling ,heavy at times, looks to be 3 inches in the guage.
May put on my rain gear and go feed wampus in a bit, hoping for a little break in the weather, but it ain't looking good at present.
Staying dry is the order of the the day.
Hope yawl have a good'un and be careful out there.

Re: First Cup Diner!
Good morning. I made it to another weekend. Every Friday I come dragging home and reconsider the sanity of still working at my age. Then by Monday I start going nuts wanting to build something and I take a couple pain pills and off I go. It snowed another 6 to 8 inches last night. Jane and I drove home in some pretty heavy snow from a nice Valentine dinner last evening. I stopped at the little gun show in town before we went to lunch, and it was no surprise that there wasn't a single item that interested me. In 5 minutes I had covered the show with Jane waiting in the car. I've got zero plans for the day and regular church tomorrow other than resting up for next week. Have a good weekend.____Dave

Good Mornin', Folks!
It's good to see both David and Scott up and at 'em this morning!
Had a mostly sunny day yesterday, this morning back to overcast skies and 64°.
Took Miss Joy to a local nursery and she picked out some new hedge plants to replace some that have dwindled because of last year's tree removal. The old ones, Cast iron plants will be replaced with something called a "Touch of Gold Holly". The Holly plants thrive in full sun. One good thing about this project, we can get the tractor in the area to remove the old plants!
Coffee is hitting the spot this morning.
Hope y'all have a good Saturday.
