Thanks Treefarmer! ::handshake:: I like the red ones as well. Wish they still made them like the old red bone.
Madmarco wrote: Mon Feb 17, 2025 4:56 am These are definitely my kinda knives, Kevin, simple and beautiful! ::tu:: I'm really digging your Case coke-bottle single spear, all I usually see are the models with clip-points and multi blades, so it's quite refreshing seeing one configured the way I like.
I hope you don't feel that you can only post spear-points, buddy, those are just a preference of mine and not the only models available, so don't be shy about posting any other models as well, cuz we know you have them in abundance to show! I very simply am the humble author of this thread, certainly not the boss, and thank goodness for that, ::facepalm:: so I don't want you thinking you need to follow any sort of rules cuz there are none! The only thing that will happen will be me posting shorter replies, since I don't know much about most other knives than the one's I'm attracted to!
It's all good!

Thanks Marco! ::handshake:: Never been one to follow the rules anyway, but since all the pictures I got last week were Spears that bring me comfort, that's what I'll be staying with for a few more days. You don't want me to get on my Wharncliffe Comfort knives buddy... We'll be here for weeks.
Ahh, that's good to hear, Kevin, just didn't want you thinking the wrong thing. ::handshake:: And posting multiple spears is 100% fine by me, don't know bout' anyone else though, mind you, knowing most of the other posters I'm nearly certain they wouldn't mind either. As far as Wharncliffe's, we'll call it "Wharnnie Week(s)"! lol!

I have this knife posted in the "Mystery Knife" thread, and so far have all the players scratching their heads, so I won't post any details in case someone from that game sees it here and then has the info thus winning unfairly, which BTW has already happened to me. After a winner is determined I will post the details here in this thread, but for the meantime I just wanted ya'll to see and draw some comfort from it!

EDIT: Wouldn't you just know it, ::doh:: no sooner had I posted this post than someone guessed correctly in the game, so I can now give a description! ::groove::

It's a 5 1/2" long since discontinued Rough Rider RR381 "Always Ready" gentleman's lock-back knife, with 440 SS hardware displaying lots of file-work, dagger grind, and faux MOP inserts. Has "Always Ready" etched on the front blade!

I guess we'll need to wait for something else to get a reaction from the Dog, Tony! ::shrug::

I posted this on the edc thread but there's no way I'm leaving my house today so it fits parameters for both threads I imagine. Also seeking opinions so I'll post here for more exposure.

I've got this 4 line Camillus Sword Brand that is in good condition. Its scales are faded unevenly and pretty ugly though. Do I keep it original, or put antler on it? ::hmm::

It's riding with me all day, or longer, until I decide

Those Remingtons are gorgeous, Kevin!
Mark, I would have never guessed RR. It’s a beauty, though!
I like those handles, TWKG. I’ve got a Dunlap, Colonial and Camillus that, if not the same handle, are pretty darned close.

A couple DFKB Excelsior Chuck Hawes Custom Comfort Spears today. These wouldn't have been my first choice of handle material (Red Brain Coral & Blue Box Elder), but thought they were interesting and traded for them at a knife show a while back.

Thanks, Tony, and don't feel too badly, most folks have never seen nor heard of that certain RR model including me and I only discovered it by mistake. When I saw it on ebay of course it caught my attention, but when I read it was a RR I immediately thought the seller was trying to scam somebody, cuz I'm such an expert on RR knives who knows every single pattern they produced. ::facepalm:: ::paranoid:: When I started searching online for another copy, the only link was to "I-Collector" who had a complete list of RR patterns and numbers. After I searched through nearly 500 listed RR's it popped up in the RR381 spot and included a picture, which was very fortunate since not all of the listings did include pics, and I'd have never know those were it's credentials without actually seeing it!
So are the trials and tribs of a dedicated knifer! lol!

Personally, I would leave it as-is, Zach, it has a rustic look that only comes from use, and I wouldn't want to change that.
Truth be told please, buddy, did you previously see the mystery Rough Rider posted from the game in the RR forum, thus your "guessing" correctly? ::hmm:: ::shrug::

Much thanks, Tim, ::handshake:: and neither would I have guessed RR, in fact, I didn't know it's status until what I explained to Tony in my reply to his post. It's one rare bird for sure!

Those handles are also prone to cracking ! Yours are Not cracked . So as a collector I would put this knife away if it were mine . That composite faux stag is not the prettiest but you have a nice stock older knife . Once you take those off it’ll never be stock again .
Put the Antler on something else if you have an urge to work with it and sell me that old Sword brand, lol.
That’s my feedback my friend .
