67°, dry and foggy this morning.
Did something yesterday I have never done before, bought 3 rolls of pine straw! Sure was easier than raking it up in the woods. A lot of pine tree farms are producing pine straw as a cash crop while the pines are maturing for market. There are several manufacturers building little tiny balers to maneuver through pine rows, both square balers and round balers. Workers windrow the needles with rakes to the middle of the tree row and the little balers spit out pinestraw bales just like in a hay field. I've read there is a down side to this, the deteriorating pine needles provide some nutrients for the trees over time. I don't think this would be an annual crop unless there is a way to cause a partial needle drop.

Quick Steel, we are experiencing a drought in Florida according to Fox Weather. Wish we were experiencing the drizzels, too! I know it is too dry to plant a garden and feel comfortable and confident at this time. Watering a small garden will probably be the way for us old folks to go. Kinda like buying pinestraw is easier than gathering it in the woods, buying vegetables from the farmer's markets is also a lot easier, plus it's a sure thing.
Our children should be coming in around noon to continue celebrating Miss Joy's birthday. Lots of last minute preparation will consume our morning.
Y'all enjoy the last Saturday of April!
