Locked open none of them had the gap between the pivoting edge cover locking bar that 1967redrider's has. Unless he wants the repair project because he enjoys it as a hobby then if he lived in the USA a warranty complaint would make more sense. SMKW wants their customers happy but I don't know about the overseas shipping or England's knife laws.

I did not know Parker sold a Safety Folder copy. Thank-you for showing it.

You mean Paul's knife. ⬆️ Mine are fine. 😉👍
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

I'm sorry I mixed up your two's screen names. I corrected my reply.

Thinking about this some more, at SMKW Paul's Safety Folder is currently $17.53 + your sales tax & shipping. Its backspring should hold it opened the same as large slip joints. If you had a Safety Folder that when locked could rotate a little towards closed then while not ideal it couldn't hurt you. It would still be safer than a Case Bulldog or Daddy Barlow. If it cost $50 I'd return it but for under $20 I'd just use it. SMKW would refund the $20 or exchange it but I don't expect too much for $20. If it could be rotated more than about 15 degrees when it's supposed to be locked then I'd return it.

I got a new one in black stag. The lock is extremely solid. I don’t think is a very useful knife to be honest. Too big to be a pocket knife and too small to be a decent fixed blade. It’s a fun and unique design but I’m just not sure what role it fills.

I'm too lazy to dig one out and measure it but IIRC the blades are about 4 1/2 inches. That's a great length for deer hunting and camping. It seems younger men tend to want longer knives than older men. That said, I'll always prefer a fixed blade for hunting because they are easyer to wipe clean.

There were no replies in this thread for over a year. While this thread was inactive I bought a RR brown bone stag Safety Foider that could be closed while locked open. It had too big a gap between the locking bar and tang. I returned it along with another RR asking for a replacement that locked correctly. SMKW refunded the $17.53 and my return shiping costs. Then at a gun show for $20 I bought another one in its pouch that was like new except for no box. It locks tight.

BTW, SMKW recently introduced a RR Safety Folder with smooth synthetic handle sides they call Pandora Swirl. Prices have gone up and after Trump's anouncement today that there will be a 104% tarrif on some Chinese goods prices likely will climb higher. Will we get rich reselling our RRs?

I think we have seen the end of the golden age of Rough Riders. Many models that were cheap have increased in price on SMKW recently. Don’t get me wrong, $19.99 is still a good price but when they were $12-15 just a few months ago, it adds up.

RRs and SMKW Marbles were such a stand out bargain that we'll get used to a 50% price hike pretty quick. What else are you going to buy for $20? However, if the current 145% tariffs hold, allowing for the cost of borrowing to stock the warehouse, it might be closer to a trippling of RR prices. That will make me shop other product lines or buy used knives. That should make Mumbelypeg happy.

By the way, speaking of buying used knives, in my watch pocket there is a USA made Colonial tiny Jack knife that was $2.50 & tax at a local thrift store. For $2.50 I can over look some pitting. It has great snap and well centered blades. It probably still had factory edges when I bought it. Even though I could be carrying a tiny Case I'm enjoying my first Colonial. :)
