I’ve always thought the jigging on this trio of old Wester Bro.s salesman samples is really interesting ….

Very nice showing ! It could be that your knifes scales were not jigged in the traditional manner we think of bone being prepared .Your knifes scales look like they may have been made by pressing the bone . You can find more information on pressed bone by entering pressed bone in the search bar at the top of beginning of this thread ,as it has been discussed on this thread previously. Thank you! When you say “pressing the bone” would that be like flint knapping?Thomasg wrote: ↑Sun May 18, 2025 11:22 pmVery nice showing ! Doesn't look pressed. You can see the jigging marks in the bottom of the "valleys".Pad2 wrote: ↑Mon May 19, 2025 6:28 pmThank you! Re: BONES BONES BONES
I agree those OP knives appear to be Jigged. Pressing looks more like hills than valleys if that makes sense.
Glad for the pressing bone info. J.O'.

Kidding, and this is just a pic I pulled off the net for fun.
Some of these dyed bones are beautiful above.

Re: BONES BONES BONES
Self dyed, jigged cow bone, on a straight jack I made
Soaked in paint stripper, dyed with Fiebings Pro oil dye, jigged with squarish burr in a dremel
You can see where the paint stripper did not eat away as much of the insides of the bone on some parts as other parts.
