Re: First Cup Diner!
Mornin' Ripster. Kind of a late-arriving crowd here in the Diner this morning. Good morning to those who drop in later.
Not much to report on here today. It is 73º here this morning. Humidity is 91% and showers are in the forecast.
Hope you all have a fine day.
Ray
And a good morning to you, David.

Re: First Cup Diner!
Good morning. It looks cool, windy and damp out there this morning. There is a lot of area annual stuff going on around here this weekend and the weather isn't going to play nice. I'm heading to a men's Bible study in a little while in a heated finished off garage and the weather won't bother that any way. Our friend and neighbor got through his triple bi-pass yesterday and is doing well. He is the one that recently lost his only son a few months ago and his wife a couple years ago and grew up in my neighborhood a few years behind me. Last night we went to a local bar/restaurant for supper and I ran into a class mate who lost his wife of 50 years about 4 years ago and another guy I've known since we were babies, and he had a stroke 6 years ago and has some minor issues yet from that. Life sure gets messy and scary when you get some decades pressing on you. Yesterday we took our dog Gypsy in for a follow up from her Lyme's disease and she is now on permanent pain meds for her aging hips and legs. She can detect medicine in pretty much anything we sneak it into so we have been really creative in giving her her Lyme's pills and pain meds, but are quickly running out of ideas and have resorted to showing them down her throat and she is getting better at coughing them back up. Yesterday we noticed our two suet feeders, which I had just filled the day before were missing and the flowers under them were laid flat. We found them and will refill them but will take them in at night, much to the displeasure of our neighborhood bear. I suppose I could leave out a little piece for him as long as he keeps playing nice. He really is good about not destroying the feeders like some of them do. He has been around for several years and when he does gt into the feeders, he always opens them and eats the contents and sets the feeder down nearly undamaged. I gotta run. Have a good weekend.____Dave

A couple of brief, but intense downpours yesterday, almost 2 inches in a short amount of time. BH was rolling thru this area yesterday (I think), he may have had a wet welcome.
I assume most here never take a look at the "train enthusiasts" thread, but I highly recommend checking out the sunset pics that "SanteFe" posted last evening.

It is now past noon so Good Afternoon. I believe my early morning arrivals in the Diner are mostly over.
My sister has gone to spend the day in a big jail in Lexington. Every few months, a group of ladies hosts a large party for the inmates. It is held in the"yard" so I hope they have good weather. Here it is cloudy and humid.

Well sugar booger. Went to call Linnea and wish her a Happy Birthday and discovered my phone has gone Kerfutz. Nothing in & nothing out. I'm sure I could fix it with a hammer
but I don't have one. No way to communicate with anyone. Oh well. Life sucks and then you die.
Oh well. I guess I'll just go see if the Cubs are winning. I picked a hell of a time to stop drinking.

Good Mornin', Scott.
Happy Father's Day to you and all the fathers associated with AAPK!
Weather wise, same old pattern, scattered showers during the day. Right now it looks like the heavier showers may be further east for today, we'll know what happened tomorrow.
Our son and grandson from Thomasville are supposed to come visit today. They are going to meet us a church and then spend the afternoon with us. Going to have to fry some venison for our youngest grandson for dinner.
Yesterday day was a rather lazy day, got my Echo tiller back from the shop and we made a trip to town for some groceries in the afternoon.
Coffee is about ready. Church in a few hours.
Y'all have a good Father's Day!

Good morning. Tom, that is a really nice picture. Well done. Happy Fathers day to you Dads. The kids are planning dinner for Fathers Day and my birthday (78th). I was born on Fathers Day. Mom said it was the best present she could come up with for Dad and I was a really cute baby. I've seen pictures. I checked my little Bantam hen this morning that has been sitting on eggs and all 5 of her eggs hatched. With the batch I bought and the several batches of the ones hatched here, my little chicken barn is getting pretty well filled and the guinea hens are working overtime giving me eggs. Church in a few hours and then off to dinner. Have a good Sunday. Thanks Ripster, I see you slipped in while I was typing.____Dave

Re: First Cup Diner!
Happy Father's Day to all of the Dads out there. Went into town (IHOP) for breakfast. On Sunday mornings it usually gets very busy between 8-9 am. Today, it was already busy when I arrived at 7:30. Picked up some flowers and stopped by the cemetery to visit my Dad on the way home. Hard to believe he would have been 94 this Wednesday. Came home to find my neighbor's ducks camped out in my back yard. There's about 15 of them, and they had been grazing across my front yard as I drove out for town. Actually, they are an entertaining bunch to watch.
Hoping to see some sun sometime today, but not optimistic.
Have a great day, everyone.

Good Mornin', Folks, the diner is open.
Sun is in the tops of the tall trees, it's 73°, looks to be repeat of last few days. Scattered showers yesterday. Had good Father's Day with visits and calls

Re: First Cup Diner!
Good morning. Rain coming in this afternoon but I'll be at the chiropractor's office anyway so it won't mess with my work this morning. Jane had a rough day yesterday with back ache and her mouth bothering her so didn't go out for dinner after church. Many of the kids and grand kids showed up and we did brats and steaks on the grill. This morning I'll get as much decking put down on the latest job before the rain starts. One of my little Bantam hens gave me 5 more chicks yesterday. My barn will be full this Winter. The two apple trees in the back yard are absolutely loaded with tiny apples. If the weather cooperates and the apple growers are correct, we might be drowning in apples this fall. We'll be on a diet of eggs and apples. I really need to stop turning my chickens into pets so we can eat some of them instead of buying chicken in the store or KFC, but that's probably not going to happen. We've has two bears coming in at night to check to see if we brought in the suet feeders, which we did so they left hungry. A raccoon took a couple snapshots in my game camera before leaving hungry also when he failed to get into my chicken barn. That's about it for what's happening in my world. Jane's appointment to start cancer treatment starts Wednesday and could use some prayers. Have a good week._____Dave

Mornin' Y'all
I slept fairly well for a little while, but I've been wide awake since 2am. Had one heck of a thunderstorm roll
through about 7 last night, really surprised we didn't lose power. Will probably have fresh lumber (limbs) down in the yard.
I may get out and work on the old pickup we bought a couple weeks ago. '96 Chevy, ext. cab, 350. Nothing special, needs some work, starting with front wheel bearings and a tune-up. Won't be a daily driver, just for doing truck stuff.
Might start going fishing again; have not been because I didn't want to take my nice car down muddy dirt roads
I'll get the pot on here in a bit, kinda early yet. Hope everyone is doing well ......

Good Mornin', Chris and other Diners stopping by this fine day.
Men's prayer meeting this morning, then back to the normal activities that include continued mowing. Yesterday I got the tractor fueled up and enjoyed more scattered showers, nothing heavy , just regular hot weather showers so common to Florida.
Chris we understand about the dirt road, someday our road may get paved.
We've lived on a dirt road since 1973 so I reckon I'm almost used to it. The county's grader operator appears not to have gone to heavy equipment operation class at the local technical college.
Y'all have a blessed day!

Good morning fellow knifers.
DJ Dave. Pray that Jane’s trip to cancer treatment goes as well as can be . Will be praying for you and the family.
Chris, that ol Chevy w/ a350 in it is a great truck for what you are going to need . They didn’t do well up here with all the salt we use in the winters . They rusted out ,but run great .
We’re getting into the humidity this week . Even heard might hit 90 this week . So it’ll be warm out there at the job site and will keep plenty of water handy. Heard on the news that Virginia and other areas got 4 inches rain in an hour and have some serious damage
Time for a second cup and get ready to roll . You all stay safe out there !

Re: First Cup Diner!
Good morning. The storms that passed through last night contained tornadoes all over Minnesota and Wisconsin but only one touched down and that one went back up and just sailed by without bothering anyone. The large hail that they predicted never showed either, just some rain and a little thunder. We might be able to get the deck we are working on done today but the cabin owner wants some windows replaced and some soffit work done while we are there. Tomorrow is the day Jane sees the cancer specialist and I we are hoping they do something quickly because that thing is growing really fast and yesterday they called her and said they scheduled some tests for July. That's not going to fly unless we aren't understanding the program. Two of our daughter-in-laws have are planning to go with Jane and I to the appointment tomorrow. Unless something stirs the pot, today should be a quiet day for weather and work. Have a good Tuesday. ____Dave
