List of eBay counterfeit sellers?

Post by BlakeAusTex »

I’m new to the forum and was wondering if there’s a list of eBay counterfeit knife sellers posted somewhere. I understand those folks change their names often, but every little bit helps.
Thanks!

I believe there’s a list of eBay sellers that are members here & I also believe that there’s a list of sellers to avoid, but I don’t know of a list specifically for those sellers that deal in fakes. Sorry but I don’t know how to attach a short cut here. You may be able to find them under the search tab and search list. Yes that’s very vague and you may have a lot of digging to do from there.

I was able to find one of the forums. Try searching
eBay no go dealers. This should help a little.

I know one ebay dealer who is a member here that I would not trust to buy a knife from, being a member here is no guarantee they are honest on ebay.

I’m not aware of a “list” of sellers to avoid. Like you’ve said, once they become known they change their eBay handles. Some of the more notorious ones, like “myrtlefaye” and “tommygg101” have apparently either sold out or changed names. Depending on your interests there are sellers of counterfeit “traditional” old knives, and there are sellers of counterfeit modern tacticals. Some Chicom sellers specialize in counterfeiting the work of higher end modern knives. If in doubt, don’t bid - keep your money.

You should take the time to read through the posts on the Counterfeit Watch forum here. A few sellers to avoid are mentioned in some of the posts, but more importantly are some good lessons in what to look for and avoid in the knives themselves. If you know that, you’ve largely won the battle.

There are sellers who mostly or exclusively deal in fakes. There are others who sell both fakes and good honest knives. Don’t fall for the eBay seller ratings - those are based mostly on simply shipping quickly. And even the most honest-intentioned seller can occasionally list a fake, just simply because they don’t know it’s fake. Your best defense is knowing yourself how to identify counterfeits.
