Buck 110 with Siberian Nephrite Jade scales

I have really warmed up to working with Jade. It is difficult at tines as it is a very tough stone that often just does not want to agree to being polished. It has interlocking fibers so great care is needed to cut slowly at any 90 degree cut to be sure you do not get what I refer to as "fiber pulls" which are not really chips in the stone but look rough where the locking fibers literally pulled out agaist the metal. Jade does not do this on any curved cuts but there are a lot of sharp edges against the spine and bolsters on a knife. So, it does take some degree of skill to cut and polish well for use on a knife.

This Siberian Jade is a beautiful translucent "apple" green color and looks and even feels so nice. I just thought I would share a few pictures.

That translucency is what really makes it exceptional. And I would guess if you are careful not to crack or chip it, it should last forever. It's prettier than cell and I don't think it will outgas!
