Pattern 96 Tiny Toothpick History

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Pattern 96 Tiny Toothpick History

Post by Pen & Toothpick »

I have quite a few of these and have never seen anything older than 1997. Infact I think I only have 2 or 3 that are before 2000.

Does anyone know when they started making them? have any examples prior to 1997? Or even 1997-1999.

I think I started collecting in 1999.

Thank's Dr I do not have that Select! I do have a few selects and I believe at least one is before 2000, either my red bone or green bone one. The green bone select has nice straight groves in the bolsters.

Kinda odd I just picked up one of those red bone centenial knives in this pattern. I think they are 1989.

Makes me think that there are more prior to 1997 out there!

Thank you LC,

You know I just looked in Steve's book for the first time and he lists only the citrus knives as 96. He missed the boat on a whole tested pattern.

Well dug a little deeper the 096 was made in the tested era 1920-1940 but there is no mention of it again till 1989 the Centennial Year  From Sargents and Parkers books

I should probably get Parker's book, I have known Sargent's has some good examples pictured.

Last night I also notices that Price & Zalesky and Ritchie & Stewart don't have the pattern listed either.
