Queen CZ #19 TRAPPER

Just recieve a Queen CZ #19 TRAPPER. Very nice piece, with the exception of the finish they put onto the wood scales. I want to strip it down and oil it. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I can use without damaging the brass pins and nickle bolsters? Would acetone affect the metal work? If an abrasive is an option, like sand paper or emery, what about the shield and bolsters?

There are several people experienced with scales here I am sure someone will help, I was curious what the CZ means, I have several Queens and never heard of CZ......they are my initials, so caught my eye. Or did you mean CV?

Acetone's some pretty nasty stuff...I wouldn't use it on anything that I was concerned about. It's bound to affect some component adversely.That's just my opinion..it's a great solvent but mistakes can't be undone.
How thick is the finish? I would probably just take my time with extra fine steel wool balled up in a set of tweezers and work carefully under magnification,but that's me.

I posted my situation over on the "repair and restoration" section and have found great help.
The CZ is for Curley Zebra, you are correct.
The stripping has begun, in fact IS done, and looks professionally done. I will post a picture or two when completely finished. I just need to get some polishing paper and touch it up, then apply an oil--not sure yet which kind, possibly linseed. Still researching that process. As a matter of info, I tried the acetone and did not budge the finish worth a darn. Queen makes sturdy knives. So, I taped off the bolsters and brass with aluminum tape worked it over with 400, 600 and 1500 grit sand paper. Taking the tape off when finished was like unwrapping a Christmas present.
