My Ebay Non-Paying Bidder Story

This happened awhile ago but it is the same jerk that Elvis just brought up as causing him a problem.

I had a bunch of knife auctions that ended the same day including a Robeson cattle knife with black handles. As is usual when a lot of auctions end on the same day, most of the buyers paid right away with PayPal and I packed up all of the items. The Robeson buyer was the only one who did not pay within a day or so but I got his knife packed and ready anyway.

Well I went to the Post Office and by mistake I brought all of the paid for items as well as this guy's package and mailed his along with the others.

When I got home I realized my error but I figured hey no big deal, I did not mark his particular item as "shipped" and I assumed that he would probably end up paying before it even got there.

No dice. Days went by, I guess he got the knife and realized that he got a "freebie" so he did not pay even after I opened an unpaid item case.

Now here is the kicker. While that was going on he was bidding on another one of my auctions. I did not realize until it was too late that he was bidding and he ended up winning it. It was a low dollar Queen knife. When I realized what happened I emailed him saying that I was not going to ship the Queen until he PAID for the Robeson.

He of course ignored me and I knew that if he paid for the Queen I would have to ship it to him (that is how Ebay works).

When I sent him the invoice for the Queen it automatically included the Robeson as a separate line item since it was still awaiting payment. This loser had the stones to actually delete the Robeson from the invoice and just pay for the Queen.

Can you imagine what a loser this clown must be? So happy and proud of himself that he scammed some seller out of a $50 knife.

I tried to think of what I could do to at least partially get back at hims. So when I shipped the Queen knife I included a small jar of (popular personal care product that begins with a "V").

He probably did not get my drift being a total moron.

I never had a problem with toolguy but I did have a similar deal go bad with another buyer. When I was forced to send the second knife out I poured a bunch of Liqiud A** over everything then sealed it in plastic using my food saver. Plus I sent him a note with some personal information and blocked him from my auctions. I lost money but I felt some what happy overall.

I've only been stiffed a couple times, but one thing I don't do is SEND INVOICE to buyer after the auction ends. The reason I don't "click" to send it is, all of their info is there including their telephone number. Now, that still hasn't done me any good, but I at least like the chance to call for my money........

Scott...I don't understand...why don't you send the invoices? I always do that and most sellers that I buy from send invoices to me.

#1 - eBay automatically sends invoices so really you don't need to.

#2 - Once you click "Send Invoice"......if you stop, just before you send the invoice you'll see all the contact info of the winner, including phone number. If you now click SEND INVOICE, you'll never see that phone number again!

Sorry, Steve......I guess I shoulda been a little clearer, huh.

You can send an invoice as many times as you want, or at least you could. So that information is still available to you.

I actually sent the guy a couple of invoices and explained that I do combined shipping. He just tried to pay for the third knife he won and that's when I refunded his money and blocked him with a full explaination of why I did it. He strikes me as a scammer preying on the good nature of ebay sellers. So it really doesn't bother me to let everyone know that his name is Clay Rogers of 207 S Jefferson St., Tullahoma TN 37388-3363, and if you get a request from him to buy a knife, make sure you have the money "in hand" before you let go of the knife. His record speaks for itself and since everything said here is true, I can't be hit with a slander charge. Can ya tell the guy pissed me off?

Bob; He REALLY ticked me off too. Sorry you had to go through this but in an odd way I feel better not being the lone victim of this #$%^wad.

It's just further proof of who we're dealing with Steve and with any luck, we've saved a few other sellers the pain of dealing with this jerk.

Man that sucks. But I like how Steve included a "special surprise" with the knife the loser actually paid for, classic.

Sorry you had to go through this. I know its painful as I experienced similar circumstances as well. There are always a few folks who just have been brought up wrong or have no sense of direction in life. For those I feel sorry, All we can do is be glad we are not them. For me it was esier as the days went on Sorry BH
