Wouldn't be a bad idea to subject the mother to the same treatment but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

When I worked at the Mercedes-Benz dealership one of our customers brought his car in for service;got a rental and went down to the local yacht club and went sailing ALL DAY leaving his dog in the rental with all the windows rolled up.
He had parked some distance away from the club and when the dog was discovered by one of the members it was too late.
When the customer got back from sailing he found a police car waiting for him and a crowd of angry people.He was arrested and had to be taken into protective custody to protect him from the mob that had gathered.If I recall correctly the judge in the case(who apparently was an animal lover)sentenced him to 90 days in jail and a heavy fine.
I won't bother describing what the interior of the rental car looked like;you can use your imagination on that one.

RESPONSABILITY !!! Even if one doesn't care about ones self it should be inherent that when you bring another sentient being under your wing/care/providence that you do JUST THAT!!!Care for and provide for their well being and best interests,which should be first instinct not to mention natural instinct! Mother love so to speak (which often comes from the PATERNAL tho rarely given proper credit) is a NO BRAINER!!! I have a hard time understanding how people like her get so tied up in their own self worth that they forget about what THE REAL MATTER IS!!! What should come simply and naturally to any sentient being not to mention a so called proud mother or father is simply forgotten through what? A date?Ones EGO??? What to wear to the party tonight??? It's no wonder that there are more grandparents struggling to provide for (on fixed incomes) and raise their grandchildren with the love they need than ever before. And do you think children like this young lady shows them the respect they deserve much less help with cost? Do you think they even say "thank you so much"??? I'm getting mad!!! I go now

k7k, a nieghbor of mine did the same thing last year to his dog. only it was in his own back yard...........
there is absolutely no excuse for something like that to happen.

A month or two back I parked in the local Walmart parking lot and went inside. When I returned to my vehicle I found a dark blue pickup truck parked beside me. Inside the truck was a Airedale dog. The temperature at the time was about 93 degrees with full sun. The driver's side window was down about two inches but the dog was obviously very hot. I went back inside and notified the store personel to the situation while my wife called the police. When I returned to the parking lot I could see the dog's distress was increasing. I checked and found the truck door was unlocked so I opened the door and got the dog out and into the shade.

About ten minutes went by before the owner, a post middle aged woman, returned to the truck. I proceeded to "explain" to her what a poor decision she'd made leaving her dog in that overheated vehicle. I may have been somewhat less than a southern gentleman in doing so.

Shortly afterward the police arrived. I explained the situation to the officer and then released the dog back to the owner. When I left the policeman was still discussing the situation with the woman, so I don't know what, if any action he took.

I have no doubt that dog would have been in serious trouble had I not been able to remove him from that truck when I did. I"m still angry even now thinking about that incident. That someone would do a child the same way is beyond my comprehention.

I saw a similar situation take place a few years ago. Department store parking lot, dog left in a car, mid nineties, full sun. When I came along the dog had been discovered in the parked minivan with the windows cracked. A local fire dept. crew just happened to be there for an unrelated reason. One of the friremen quickly tried to open the doors but they were locked so without hesitation he broke out not one but TWO windows, drivers side window and the large window in the drivers side sliding door on this minivan. The second larger window was out of spite . They got the distressed dog out, in the shade and gave him some water. It was several more minutes before the woman came running out of the store more worried about her van than her dog. As I was leaving police were arriving on scene. Not sure what happened to her but it definately cost her two new windows and a lot of embarassment.

There have been at least three seperate reports on the local news of women being arrested after leaving their young kids in a parked car here in metro Atl over the past month or so.

Some people should not be allowed custodianship of anything.

It is simply a case of selfish, stupid people putting their wants and desires ahead of the needs of those creatures for whom they are responsible. I hope that idiot woman gets stuck in "the box," that little tin shed that Paul Newman got stuck in in "Cool Hand Luke." Maybe she'd sweat out some of her stupidity. I doubt it, but maybe.
