Re: Whats your newest addition to your Buck family and why?
Not yet Dogg - yesterday was our opening day; I let a little doe walk at 0730 (she was around 50-60 lbs). It is just as much work to clean a 100-110 lb. doe and you get much more meat. If it was DEC 29th and I was in need then I would have dropped her, but got lots more days coming up (such as this TUE/WED & FRI). I'll post a picture, of that you can be sure! OH

Thanks Old Timer and garddogg56, it sure is hard to beat the contrast of brass and wood together. The handles are something to look at. It was a very nice present to receive.

Thanks for all the well wishes - I put my Buck 113 review in the New Product Announcements & Review sub-forum; good knife!
PS. you are a good brother IM, that is a nice gift! Mike, no backstraps from this one - all going into sausage - the next one will be parted out.

You just never know when you will find something that has been laying around for years, un-needed by the original owner. One of my customers, who is a fellow hunter and all around good guy, knows I like Buck knives - he saw this one in a pawn shop about three weeks ago, brand new and still in the box. He bought it and held it for me - I got it today (and gladly reimbursed him the $40 he had in it!). This is one I didn't have, a Buck 118; my collection of traditional Buck fixed blades is slowly growing. This one is a pre-86, no date marking on the blade. OH

Great score OH! I like the little "false edge" or swedge cut at the very tip end of the blade spine...looks like that could provide for some real detailed cutting and or skinning. Beautiful knife.

Buck 112. 2 dot version with a sheath that is perfect shape and the blade is incredible. I got this on an auction site and had no idea it was this perfect. My first 112 and love the way it sits in the hand.

Nik, welcome to AAPK and especially to the "Buck-Nuts" forum! Very nice Buck 112 - that is one Buck model I need to add to my collection - sorting prowling for a nice, minty old one like you scored there. Hope you enjoy yourself here and come back often! OH
Ps Dogg, you always have some nice Bucks to show off - been carrying my new 301 all week, but last night put the 303 in my LFP due to its smaller, more discreet size in a slightly tight jeans pocket.

Dogg, that is a new one on me - never seen a Buck Alaskan Skinner before - but sure is nice looking! I'll have to look around and find one to handle. OH

Re: Whats your newest addition to your Buck family and why?
Found a VG condition Buck **110** today at a pawn and gun while on my trip to Fayetteville - Fort Bragg. I cleaned up the brass ends and it looks virtually new. It was missing the leather case, but I have one of those (a recent Mexican made one, not an original). OH

I made a trade with Knifetime here on AAPK for this Buck 501 Esquire - it arrive today. I'm quite pleased, this is my first Buck with the Olde English tang mark and is in splendid condition. OH

Re: Whats your newest addition to your Buck family and why?
Fellow Buck collectors (accumulators? carriers? hoarders? users?), I am beginning to think I am the last man acquiring old Buck knives here at AAPK - y'all gotta be adding something. I've been trying to keep Dogg's thread alive, but I am fast running out of money! Help!!
I just received this one today, a 313 Muskrat, (the second version I believe) from the Camillus era. This one is slightly pocket-worn, but the blades appear to have never been used (or someone only cut soft stuff with them!) and each has great walk and talk. OH

Aw Dogg, that is the Million Dollar question - if only I knew the answer, then I could aspire to pocketknife greatness! Actually Jerry told me the answer in another post (Q&A) - it's a Moose! I love having old Marine's around - they keep everything nice and simple! OH

Re: Whats your newest addition to your Buck family and why?
Sorry Guys,
It may look like a Moose, shaped like a Moose but it is a "Muskrat"...........
Every Buck catalog of its life (~20 yrs) lists it as a "Muskrat". So I am calling it a "Rat"......
And the standard sawcut versions are as follows: No.1 - Tang stamped: BUCK, Made In U.S.A., 313 stamped on reverse. No. 2 - Tang Stamped: BUCK, 313, U.S.A. on front only. Easy open notch on front scale only. No. 3 - Tang Stamped: BUCK, 313, U.S.A. on front only. Easy open notch on both sides (for both blade nics). There was a yellow sawcut version special ordered and sold only by SMKWs. So I say there are four versions.

As always 300Bucks - thank you! Based on your information and on the chart you included, I have a Version 2b - easy open notches on both handles. This is an interesting knife, and it carries "flatter" than any of my 301 versions. OH

Re: Whats your newest addition to your Buck family and why?
I just picked up a 307 Wrangler. I've owned a 301 for 36 years and have my father's 301 from the same era, but after reading on these forums that there was a bigger stockman knife, the search was on. The blades show some sharpening loss (moron with a grinder
), but I was able to get a good edge on each of the blades.
