Re: Knife Photography Bob Newton
How do you set lighting for these great pics? From behind, blinds open in room? This is my problem the flash always blows out the centre of the pic.I'm using an 8pixel camera ,but I can't shut off the flash. Thanks for the input in advance.May be I will be able to post some good pics??

Just got to love those big spear blades - very nice Perry!
Deep in the guts of most men is buried the involuntary response to the hunter's horn, a prickle of the nape hairs, an acceleration of the pulse, an atavistic memory of his fathers, who killed first with stone, and then with club...Robert Ruark

Hey guys, here's a pic of my new 72!
Just got it from Big Monk last weekend and it's already become a welcome companion here at work.

Hey Bob, I don't use any backdrop at all, I just point and shoot. You will need the flash turned off and use a tripod then try to shoot many times, to get the one or two you might wind up using. Also check your camera's settings for the best, crisp, clear shot possible. Whether you have a macro setting, if so, use it! Or extreme closeup or hyper focus, use one of these. Hope this helps!Bob Newton wrote:How do you set lighting for these great pics? From behind, blinds open in room? Re: Knife Photography
hey bob....here is how i do it...
NO FLASH!..mike is right....tape that flash,BUT it should turn off some how???
MACRO FEATURE-the icon for this feature is a "FLOWER" it allows close up "CLEAR" STILL SHOTS
almost all digi have this, and with your camera being 8 megapixels it should have all the features most have.
TRIPOD-must have for tang stamp pix......but not needed for a foot or so away, unless you are shakey freehand, then just always use it...get 2 a real short one and a adjustable one that can go taller
you dont need 2 though......just helps
OUTDOORS WITH SUN TO YOUR BACK AND KNIFE IS SHADE FROM YOUR BODY OR SOMETHING ELSE,NOT IN DIRECT LIGHT!
FOR INDOOR-you really need a "shadow box" and good adjustable lighting, and bulbs matter too (HARDER TO DO )
macro feature AND outside, sun to back, item in shade is the real trick IMO
HOPE THIS HELPS A LIL...
