Customized Camillus Sharpfinger

Post by orvet »

Here is another knife I made in the last few months.
It took a long time to finish this as I put many coats of finish on this knife, probably at least a dozen coats.

The blade & sheath are from the Camillus factory.
When I go to all the work to customize a sheath knife I generally do a little work on the sheath as well.
You can see the piece of leather glued onto the metal back of the snap on the strap. I also covered the head of the rivet that holds the strap in place on the sheath and the head of the rivet at the top of the pocket. Nothing but leather touches the knife.

The handles are stabilized spalted maple with mosaic pins.

I liked the color and pattern of the spalted maple and I had a couple pieces of the wood left over.
I also had a paring knife blank that I believe came from the Camillus factory.
I put the extra pieces on the paring knife. The handles are attached with glue & cutlery rivets.

The actual color is like the last two pics.
The first was taken indoors & the second pic just went weird. I think the sun went behind a cloud. ::shrug::

I hope you enjoy the pics.

Wow Dale! That spalted maple really pops.

Excellent work on both of those, great work as usual. Nice to see some stuff coming out of your shop. ::tu::
