I love the blade on that knife. I saw it on another thread.

The one I put up was AK-47 AUS 8A Taiwan. It is 9" long when fully opened.

This is the only other one that I have....Voyager VG-1 :D

 That's just a toy in comparison to your other knife and the Twistmaster. My only other knives from Cold Steel are a cheap Chinese Kudu that was thrown in with another purchase (another big knife) and a Spike.

garddogg56, the AK-47 is a hoss! It is huge. It is obvious that it was made for hand to hand combat as well. I keep it put up with a couple of my other large tactical knives. It is a great conversation piece, but it is a very serious knife. The blade is razor sharp and for the size it actually fits my hand nicely. It is more than I would want to carry on me daily unless I knew that I would really need it, and I hope not to ever be in that kind of a situation.

As already noted, the CS AK-47 is a serious bit of cutlery. At 8 oz. too heavy for my routine carry. I think one of the more interesting things about this model is that Lynn Thompson had the foresight to copywrite the name many years before using it.

cold steels big bowie was an earlier earth shaker.his company has regularly shown new thinking in cutlery.lately his move to alloy cts-xhp in many of his models is probaly going to gain him a larger chunk of american purchases.this steel is one of the new powdered super steels. my observation of u-tube cutting on sisal rope was an eye opener. admittally his cutting commercials are somewhat heavy handed but his products always deliver.it looks as if his tri-ad lock on folders is the strongest in the entire industry.HiPower

I guess there is some controversy as to who introduced the "American" style tanto, but certainly Lynn Thompson at CS popularized it in the 1980s. For some years the CS tanto was the number one blade sold through the PX to the troops. I do not know it that is true today. I think CS offers innovation, practicality and good value.
