Pictures Don't Post In The Correct Orientation
I did some research on this issue and discovered it's caused by AAPK's software not handling the posted image correctly. You can read all the nuts and bolts of the problem here ---> http://www.howtogeek.com/254830/why-you ... y-rotated/
I get around the problem by opening the image with something like MS Paint (on every PC) and then doing a save OR I right click on the image in Windows Explorer and using the rotate function in the drop down menu I can rotate the image and then rotate it back to the correct orientation. Then I can post the picture to AAPK and it will show up correctly. Yeah, it's a few extra steps but at least your pictures will show up right side up.
Note: if you left click on "Edit" in the drop down menu, the image will automatically open in MS Paint. (For What It's Worth, in case you need to crop the picture or something)

Gee thanks Royal. You're so good to me. You might want to take into consideration that I won't always be here to wipe your butt and pick up after you.

Re: Pictures Don't Post In The Correct Orientation
I tend to see patterns where they don't exist... but I seem to have noticed recently that even when the AAPK "preview" images are oriented incorrectly that AAPK will orient the image correctly in the "expanded" view. I'm using Windows 10 and IOS to access AAPK.

Texas Jerry, read that article referenced in the link I provided in the OP. To me, he's saying what's on your box is not relevant to the issue, it's the Forum's software that doesn't recognize the tag or treat it properly. Be another set of eyes here for me.
And I too noticed that different orientation for preview and full picture phenomenon on one picture lately. It gave me quite a start.
Royal. Please post a picture here so we can play with it. And what are you using? PC, phone, tablet, something I haven't mentioned?

Re: Pictures Don't Post In The Correct Orientation
I wanted to observe what happened with taking pictures with my iPhone starting with the lens in the top right position relative to the photograph subject and then rotating the phone 90 degrees counter clockwise and taking a picture with the lens in each "corner".
I need time to digest what is happening, but I am surprised by the difference in the "translation" between the preview picture and the full-size picture.
Bottom line for now is that it seems that you can't get it right in both views on AAPK when you upload pictures directly from your phone without using photo editing software on your PC that rotates the image properly so that no translations are needed.
I don't seem to have any troubles with my real camera or with any pictures that I crop in my photo editing software.

After cropping. Note this is the last picture in the above sequence. So cropping worked. Try it Texas Jerry.

Re: Pictures Don't Post In The Correct Orientation
Well boyz, it ain't the ultimate solution but it's better than what we had. Now if there was a way to "fix" the AAPK software, we'd be in like Flynn.

Re: Pictures Don't Post In The Correct Orientation
It seems that just running the image through the crop feature is what does the trick. Moving the crop lines to the outer image margins does the trick (actually cropping nothing off the image).

Re: Pictures Don't Post In The Correct Orientation
I use a 14 yr old Pentax Optio to take pictures. I don't get the L, R, top, bottom thing but my camera is always in the horizontal position on a tripod while taking pictures. I always crop my pics to 'compose' it better and make it take up less space on AAPK. My pics are always in the correct orientation when posted here on AAPK.
Is this because i crop ? And an uncropped pic would show sideways or upside down ?

I believe the answer to your question is yes. Here's a thread I started on the subject. Cropping did the trick in this case and I suspect it will next time too.kootenay joe wrote:I use a 14 yr old Pentax Optio to take pictures. Re: Pictures Don't Post In The Correct Orientation
Roland, this is just for pictures taken on a cell phone. Regular cameras work fine. The left, right, top bottom thing was just a piece of paper to help with delineating the orientation in which the phone was held during experiments.
