Re: Three backspring knives
I was not aware of this thread. Interesting knives, all.
Here is a five blade Robeson knife. I do not have a scan of the backsprings, but there are three, I promise.

Re: Three backspring knives
Nice knives fellows, I don't think they made a triple backspring farmers jack, unless maybe it were Robeson. Grin

Re: Three backspring knives
Nice knives all
Guess I should share my first knife I have posted a few times (well more than a few times ) that I received at age 10 from my Uncle who passed a few years ago... and yes I chipped the stag below the rear pin doing who knows what in my much younger days as I used this knife for anything and everything - from whittling to cutting tree branches etc
Puma Jadgmesser - Folding Hunter (serial # indicates made the year I received it)...
My old photos before the light box setup... but good enough to show the triple springs....

Re: Three backspring knives
Those Puma 941's are beautiful knives and that one has a great history to boot. Here is one I got many years ago that looks nearly identical with a Keystone stamp.LongBlade wrote:Nice knives all

Re: Three backspring knives
Thanks Lyle and Ray ...
Ray - actually mine is a 945 but indeed very similar - you know the production year of your knife? - I know mine only because they used serial numbers and there is a chart to date them exactly - mine was October 1965...

Re: Three backspring knives
Actually mine is not a Puma but I think it may have been made by whomever made the Puma knives. It is stamped Keystone No.236 and the quality is the same as a Puma. I bought it in the original box which also contains a copy of an old hunting license issued by an Indian chief to white hunters.LongBlade wrote:Thanks Lyle and Ray ...

Re: Three backspring knives
Thanks Ray!! I am not sure as German knives are clearly not my thing but to my knowledge Puma made their own knives unless they contracted out in later years... either way - your knife is indeed similar in many respects except the saw blade is in a different position and the hook on bottom side is not on my knife... interesting and thanks for sharing!!
