The M&G section of the Nilo Miori Collection

William H. Maher and Emil Grosh started the Maher & Grosh Wholesale Cutlery Co. in 1877 with a goal to sell high quality US manufactured cutlery globally. The original business dissolved in 1988, but the brand has since been resurrected.

The M&G section of the Nilo Miori Collection

Post by peanut740 »

Nilo Miori was president of Camillus Cutlery from 1963-87.He had worked for Albert Baer for over 50 years in his related companies. He had in his possession the Ulster factory collection among other things.Sometime after his death his family had the collection appraised and it was sold.Among the collection were knives made by Ulster for other companies including Maher & Grosh. There were also a couple of knives made by someone else for M&G for some unknown reason.
A few years ago I had a chance to buy the Maher & Grosh knives from the collection. I bought most and after thinking about it went back and bought the other 2.I liked the idea of keeping them together has they had been for many years.

This next one was probably Maher & Grosh's most common pattern sold.It is a 3 3/4" cocobolo jack. They had this pattern with several different etches and a couple blade combos.

Spectacular grouping of knives!! Thanks for sharing!! I had a mint Maher&Grosch wood handled hobo with perfect etch for a long time but financial matters made me sell it last year. I really like these Maher etched knives.

WOW ! Everyone of those is a superb & mint knife. I doubt i even have one USA knife that is comparable to these.
How does an opportunity like this come about ? So far no one has contacted me asking if i would like to buy a group of mint knives.
kj

Edit to add: i hope some of these will be reproduced in your new M & G offerings, esp. the most popular "3 3/4" cocobolo jack".
