No pattern number

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

No pattern number

Hello Remington experts,

Take a look at this Remington that my dad found. The stamp suggest the second half of the 1930s and it’s a great knife. The thing is, I don’t see other examples of this pattern and it doesn’t have a pattern number stamped on the blade.

What do you all think is going on here?

Oh, I didn’t realize Remington inked pattern #s. I thought all Remington’s had it stamped.

Does anyone have an idea what pattern number this knife would be?

I can’t seem to find an example of this pattern in the reference guide on this site. It most closely resembles the R6390 but obviously only has 2 blade.

Looks like a R7425. More than likely inked with numbers worn off. John

Yes. That looks like it! Thank you so much. Did you use a reference to ID it or are you just that good? If it’s a book, would you mind sharing which?

Thanks John. I’m looking to get some good knife books so that’s helpful to know. I’ll add those to my wish list.

Thanks again John. So far my wish list includes:
Levine’s guide to knives 3rd or 4th edition
Goins
Seargant’s knives and razors

Any other suggestions would be welcomed.
