"Boy's Knife"

William H. Maher and Emil Grosh started the Maher & Grosh Wholesale Cutlery Co. in 1877 with a goal to sell high quality US manufactured cutlery globally. The original business dissolved in 1988, but the brand has since been resurrected.

"Boy's Knife"

Post by kootenay joe »

The GEC website shows an upcoming Maher & Grosh knife in their production schedule. It will be a GEC #15 with 2 blades, Federal shield and a bail & chain.
I think these will sell out quickly. Is their a buyer reservation system in place ? Or, what is the best way to buy one on the day they are released ? That is, if they last a full day of being available.

Thanks Ken. Somehow i missed that thread.
There is a hint it will be available at BLADE '18, but i would still like to know if there are reservations. I'm sure there are others here who would sign on. If no reservations what is best way to nab one, especially if not able to check this forum every day ?

Roland if you'll contact Peanut740 here on AAPK I'm sure he'll hold one for you when they arrive. (assuming, of course, that they aren't all promised already)

C.Risner has the yellow jigged bone in stock today. It's the regular #15 no bail or chain, so they'll be here soon. ::ds::

I sent a message to Roger (aka "peanut740") asking how best to obtain the upcoming M&G "Boy's Knife". I am posting the answer here in case others are also interested.
If you have previously bought an M&G knife from the M&G website, then you are on a mailing list and will be informed when the new release is available. You can also ask to be on the M&G mailing list using contact info on the website, if you have not purchased from the site previously.

The last estimate from GEC we had was for completion the end of June or so.Ken is going to contact GEC Tuesday for an update.I should also see Chris at the Blade Show in a few days. Originally when we started planning the pattern we thought delivery would be sooner than it is.But I guess all good things are worth waiting for. ::nod::

If you commit to buy every knife they produce... I think you could get yourself on the preferred customer list....LOL
This will ensure that they hold a knife for you, once they are available, you pay and they ship! You can't ask for anything better than that

I have taken that commitment myself because I have been impressed with each and every knife they have produced. Roger and Ken have really stepped it up and I will continue to support them as long as they are producing the M & G knives.

Thanks again Roger and Ken!

Perhaps not the right thread for this but i would love to see a fine Maher & Grosh pen knife. A well balanced snugly fitted pen knife with offset grinds and long swages is a pleasure to own, use & carry. And don't underestimate the pen knife. A large one, 3 1/2", could field dress a deer without a struggle, just a sharp blade.

I agree FarSide. Those are beauties and I like the clip/pen combo and size of the knife, the cocobolo handles are gorgeous too. Wish I would have budgeted for one this month. :(
Edit: Just went back and looked at 'em and realized they have spear blades, guess I don't have to stress over not being able to purchase one now.

Mine are scheduled to arrive on Monday July 2nd. (West Coast)
Will set my tent up next to the mailbox tonight just in case of early arrival. ::ds::

Much too early to talk about the next edition, but I'm sure Roger and Ken will throw out some hints in due time. ::hmm::

I hope the USPS doesn't put as many miles on them as they did my last M & G purchase as well Roger. No matter, I can't wait until they arrive and I can add them in with the rest of their predecessors....had to clear a shelf in my Canal Street cabinet to make room for the M & G knives with these two arriving soon.....my goal is to fill this cabinet with nothing but the "New Generation" Mayer & Grosh knives that you and Ken are putting out.

I do not believe it is ever too early to talk up the next run of knives....builds anticipation and forces folks to save up their nickels and dimes so they can grab up a piece of this wonderful Americana....."New Generation" Mayer & Grosh, gotta love them!

Tom, have to agree, these new Maher&Grosh knives that Roger and Ken are putting out are something special, can't wait to see what they come up with next.

My 2 showed up today without the 6 day sightseeing tour the last batch went on, beautiful well made pair of knives, just love the jigging of the bone and the color of the cocobolo. Thanks Roger and Ken.
