July 2018 AAPK Knife Giveaway

Post by bestgear »

This month Americanedgetech (Ken) is donating a CRKT Ron Lake P.A.L.! Thanks for your generosity ::tu:: ::handshake:: Here's what you are playing for:
The Lakes PAL is a classic design from Ron Lake that was put into production by CRKT. It features the P.A.L. Piston Activated Lock and an open built frame of 420J2 stainless steel. The handle is satin finished with threaded stainless-steel spacers and jigged bone inlays with one Torx screw missing on the pile side near the lanyard hole that could be easily replaced and installed if the new owner desires. It offers supreme strength and rigidity, with the warmth of traditional materials. The blade is premium AUS 8 stainless steel, in a modified drop point shape with a satin finish. Includes pouch for carry.
Ken has taken a brief sabbatical from the AAPK forums to focus his time and energy into gracefully ending his current vocation, so he can focus on his true passion of knife sharpening and commerce in hopefully the near future. Ken wanted me to pen a few words about his love and gratitude for the members of AAPK but I think his donation does that just fine.
Instructions for entering the giveaway...

Simply click here and select a number between 0 and 1000.

Please note you will now have up to 6:00 PM Eastern Time to pick a number on the day of the drawing not a day before like previous drawings!

You will have until July 31 (6:00 P.M. Eastern) to pick a number. After this time, an official "Final List" of the entrants will be posted in this thread. The winner will be determined by the Illinois State Lottery evening pick three drawing on July 31. The Individual closest to the selected number without going over will win. The Illinois lottery results can be found on the following website:

http://www.illinoislottery.com/en-us/Pick_3.html

You must be 18 years of age or older to play. The winner will be sent a PM after the drawing and will have 10 days to respond with your name and shipping address, if you do not respond within the allotted time the knife will be given to the next closest winner on the list without going over.

Good Luck!

Mike, I had an email exchange with Ken a few months ago. I believe it was in mid March and he was fine then. He mentioned that he was just taking a lifestyle break and that he planned to start posting again when things settled down.

HI Tom,

I can't believe I won your CRKT Ron Lake P.A.L. - what a knife !! I've never handled one - I'm really anxious to see how the Piston Activated Lock actually works - from what I've read, it's quite an innovative locking design. Thanks for your generosity in offering this fine knife to AAPK membership, I really appreciate it. WOOT !! ::groove::

Thank you Tom - I received the CRKT Lake's PAL knife today - thanks for the lightning fast shipping !!

I'm sorry Ken, I missed in the first post that this was your donation - apologies & my sincere thanks to you for offering up this fine knife to the AAPK membership.

First impression is the size - it's a nice medium frame ... it's smaller than it looks in the pictures - really fits the hand (and pocket) nicely. Blade is super beefy & the plunger lock feature is really neat - locks up rock solid ! Overall, fantastic knife that exceeded my expectations - thanks again Ken ... I have no doubt this baby is going to be a weekend carry workhorse !! ::tu::
