Bucklite blade nub

Just picked up a black Buck 422 folder. Box says 2012. I just noticed - at the base of the spine, where the blade butts up to the spring when open, is a little "nub" of steel, a little "hill" where the spine rises above the rest of the spine. Rounded over and polished. Never seen this before - did all this generation Bucklites have this (my 422X does not, and many pics of 422 don't show it) and what is it for? Thanks

I think when asked Bucks response was they don't grind the nub off of the plastic handled knives. Because the plastic melts. Apparently they are usually ground off after final assembly. So the blade and spring are perfectly smooth.

Apparently the new 110 LT has the same nub. The post I saw on another for the owner fixed it with a file and sand paper. Took all of 15 minutes.

Doesn't bother me. Actually I think it adds a tiny bit more strength to the blade/handle lockup, a tiny bit more bearing surface.

2013 424. No nub. Likewise my little 2004 42?
(I’ll be darned if I can tell if the last number is a one or a five.) Both have plastic or some kind of composit on the handles. Background courtesy of large orange tomcat!
