WINTERBOTTOM BULLDOG

Post by Quick Steel »

This is a 2007 Bulldog Scout Knife with winterbottom bone. It is exquisitely made: blades are perfectly centered, the closing snap makes a wonderful sound, virtually undetectable feel of the scale/bolster transition, etc. A fine example of the cutler's skill.

Thank you XX.. While I invariably find most Bulldogs to be very good to excellent, I am seeing a pattern where the knives, like the Scouts or others with 4,5, or 6 blades are truly exceptional productions. I am imagining that these more complex knives were exclusively handled by their very best master cutlers, or perhaps even just one man did them all. These types of BDs cannot be surpassed in quality IMO. What a loss that the German BDs have ceased production.

Yes sir QS, thats a handsome knife. Looks solid and well built, and with a full compliment of various blades useful as well. Nice score. ::tu::

I'm not usually a big fan of Winterbottom, but, that looks nice on that Scout. Sweet knife.

I understand SMH. I was never drawn to winterbottom and in fact did not particularly care for its appearance. Then, within the past week, I've handled my first winterbottom in a granddad barlow followed by this scout. Turns out I really like the hand feel. So now it looks better to me. :)
