Re: Veterans Day
The F-117 was what happens when you let radar engineers design an airplane. The Zumwalt is what happens when you let radar engineers design a ship...
Unfortunately, the Zumwalt lost one of it's primary weapons - the LRLAP gun. That was an incredible weapon - firing a 24 lb explosive projectile 83 nautical miles at 10 rounds/min and an accuracy (CEP) of 50 meters. That's very cool - but each round was going to cost between $800K-$1M EACH. That's the cost of a Tomahawk cruise missile!! They have talked about trying to retrofit a railgun on it, but for now it's a ship that can't fulfill the main role it was designed to fill.
Thank you to veterans everywhere! I never forget!

Re: Veterans Day
I’d definitely do it all again, but I get to come home alive and whole again, just like the first time.
And then revert back to being seventy-one and retired.
And my present day family intact.
And my country not going down the tube.
See how complicated reliving one’s history can become?
I could keep adding stipulations all night.

Happy Veterans day to all. I would defiantly do it again. Some of the happiest times of my life. Seen parts of the world I will never get to see again. Had my firstborn daughter who is now 36. Met a bunch of very fine individuals. Stayed in touch to this day with several. We have a special bond. Have a great day vets.

Well as my ole Sargent said, there was four people that left when homer went to the Army, him and three MP's, you can still see the claw marks his fingernails made when they drug him of the porch. That's pretty close to the truth too, but if called on I'd do it again. There's some things I'd just soon that I didn't have to go through again, but there's some things I'd like to do twice.

A thought for the veterans of the Coast Guard. Don't know if we have any aboard here but I have always been impressed by their service in war or peace. Tho small in number, they have heart and courage far beyond their size.

Veterans Day November 11, 2019
To all of those who served to defend not only our freedom, but the cause of freedom around the globe, thank you for your sacrifices. Freedom is never free they say, because it must be protected daily and some days the price is very high. God bless all of you that have served and that are still in uniform.

We must not let our leaders forget that our military is composed of our own family members, neighbors, friends and fellow citizens. Those who serve deserve the best we can provide to them!

Re: Veterans Day
Well said Suitcase.
What a special time it is. Marine Corps Birthday tomorrow and Veterans Day on Monday. Now if all those people who automatically regurgitate "Thank you for your service" really meant it..............
All of you who served. Thank you for taking the time out of your life to serve and having the courage to do it. You may have enlisted in a time of peace but conflict around the world can flare up in a New York Minute and there is no way to predict it. Thanks.

Re: Veterans Day
I understand today is the birthday of the Marine Corps, so happy birthday to all you Marines.
And wishing the best for all Veterans. For me, this day, and tomorrow, is about remembering people I knew from service days. So many good people of all ranks. May God bless them.

Re: Veterans Day
My Grandson is serving in the Army, currently at Fort Riley, KS. There's a rumor that his unit will deploy early next year and they won't be going East.
My niece is in the Air National Guard (Active duty), stationed in Florida. She has been in 10 years, is an E-6 and is in the queue for E-7 (Air Force rank confuses me).
