OC, that is imitation tortoiseshell from the early 1990s. Boker never told what they used, but I assumed corelon or similar. I have a few of these and they look great. Carbon steel blades too! The earlier ones didn't have a shield - like yours.

Thanks for the great info!! Under good light the appearance of the imitation tortoise shell has kind of a colored glow to it.

I recently picked up this 3" Boker pen for a few bucks at a gunshow. The tangstamp on the master blade is "H. Boker & Co's Improved Cutlery" with the tree on the back of the tang. Secondary blade is stamped "H. Boker & Co's Cutlery Germany" with the tree on the back of the tang. Mother of Pearl is in good shape. Neat little knife. Am I in the ball park with a date of 1869-1910 for this one?

Here is a special Boker "Double Tree" offering from 2006, a 3 5/8" (3 3/4' ?) stag Congress serial # 068 out of 300. Comes with a storage pouch & original paper work.Pattern 5464 & a "Classic" so not stainless steel. All for under $60. A good deal for me but a loss for the original owner. This is a very fine knife.

That is an incredible knife. Reminds me of the stag congress from the “Storytellers”. Nice.
Here is my latest. Bought it from Gary Kennedy at Kennedy Knives right here on AAPK.
It’s a Boker Solingen Grand Canyon Bone Copperhead. Saw this one scrolling across the top of the screen and just couldn’t get it out of my head.
Thanks Gary,
Mark

Congratulations on a great choice. I have the Copperhead in red bone and I love the practicality of the pattern.

Need to make a correction. The word "Classic" in a blade etch on German Bokers refers to pattern, not steel type.

Thought I would post this one on this thread first. This is one of those Bokers w/ parts made in China and assembled in Germany. I sent this to Muskrat Man and had him replace the white bone handles with Amboynia wood and stippling on the bolsters. I am quite pleased with it. Plus I don’t have a ton of money tied up in it. I have a second one in white smooth bone sitting next to it in the last photo so you can get a good idea of before and after. Can’t decide if I want to sell the white one or get it in line w/ Muskrat Man to do this one also.
I have others done by Muskrat Man that I will be posting, not Bokers.
